Schwartz proposed a solution that divides asset representation into two different levels. The first level involves global tags that represent core assets, such as U.S. dollars. The second layer is user-defined tags that allow recipients to choose which issuer's tokens to accept as dollar equivalents based on personal preferences.

In his model, Schwartz expressed his willingness to accept RLUSD, USDT, or USDC as the equivalent of the U.S. dollar. However, other users or businesses can choose a more stringent publisher list in their wallet settings. This approach achieves personalization of the trust mechanism while maintaining consistent perceptions of core assets.

The technical aspects of solving this issue have been addressed through XRP Ledger's line of trust mechanism. This mechanism allows users to clearly define the assets and issuers they are willing to accept. Despite this, due to interface design challenges, this technical solution has not yet made stablecoin payments intuitive and insensitive to a broad user base.

Summary of key points:

  • Most current cryptocurrency wallets do not fully consider issuer information.
  • Indicates that the problem does not stem from the technical level, but is rooted in user interface design.
  • Schwartz believes that unless wallets can learn to process issuer information along with currency codes, stablecoin payments will continue to exist as a complex tool serving a niche user base.
