Aptos Labs has proposed an encrypted memory pool solution that aims to hide pending transaction instructions before transaction sequencing is completed. In testing, his research team reported that the protocol resulted in a 27-millisecond increase in the delay from proposal to execution.

Encrypted memory pool mechanism: Protect orders before execution

According to the company, most pending transactions on the blockchain expose information that verifiers and other participants can use to copy transactions, change transaction orders, or conduct front-running transactions. Aptos views protocol-level protection as a means to reduce order flow disclosure, censorship and pre-emptive trading for large-value chain transactions, rather than relying on third-party services to maintain order confidentiality.

In subsequent research papers, Rex Fernando, Guru-Vamsi Policharla, Andrei Tonkikh and Zhuolun Xiang described the TrX system, which combines encrypted memory pools with a high-performance Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus protocol. The preprint was released in November 2025, and research points out that the transaction content visible before sorting is a mechanism that leads to pre-emptive trading, sandwich trading and other forms of maximum extractable value (MEV).

According to the authors, their system maintains confidentiality during the sorting process while increasing the latency from proposal to execution by 27 milliseconds, which is equivalent to 14% of the benchmark system used in the comparison. The researchers believe that the performance of this result is comparable to that of leading consensus designs while providing protection against MEVs, and their claims are based on the system and comparative data presented in the paper.

Decibel is part of an Aptos-funded transaction program

In a May 8 report on its ecosystem funding commitments, the Aptos Foundation and Aptos Labs committed more than $50 million to first-party products, research, protocol infrastructure, and strategic funds for transaction and artificial intelligence partners.

Decibel was reportedly launched on Aptos 'main website in February as an on-chain orderbook and perpetual contracts exchange;Aptos said that as of May, its cumulative transaction volume had exceeded US$1 billion. In an announcement on May 7, the Internet said Decibel records orders, matchmaking and cancellation operations on the chain, and described confidentiality and prevention of exposure of transaction intentions as necessary conditions for professional transactions.

More recently, an August 13 report covered Franklin's BENJI custody arrangements, after SEC staff issued a no-action letter allowing Franklin's U.S. registered funds to use specific custody arrangements when investing in their OnChain U.S. Government Money Fund. In a letter dated August 12, the SEC's Investment Management Department stated that if funds met established conditions, they would not recommend enforcement action under section 17(f) and Rule 17f-2 of the Investment Company Act of 1940.

Based on the content of the letter, Franklin's transfer agent will retain official ownership records and wallet keys, Stellar has been identified as the main blockchain, and other networks can be used for certain eligible accounts. Conditions in the letter include that each investment fund's board of directors must review the custody arrangements at least once a year, and independent accountants must verify investments at least three times per fiscal year, including two unannounced inspections.
