The monthly capital flow in the global derivatives market far exceeds the total amount of the crypto market.
The capital flow in the global derivatives market in a single month exceeds the sum of all funds ever seen in the entire cryptocurrency market. This is the core premise behind Jake Claver's recent article. He believes that even a small amount of money flowing into XRP from that market would be enough to push prices well beyond current expectations.
Clover's arguments on XRP
Clover wrote: "The amount of money flowing in the derivatives market in a month exceeds the total amount in the history of cryptocurrencies." He added that if only 1% of that money went to crypto,"most price targets would seem insignificant." He concluded: "XRP is far from reaching its upper limit."
Data supports the scale of this claim. As of the end of 2025, the total nominal principal amount of global over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives was approximately US$844 trillion. The total market value, a more pragmatic measure of actual exposure, is US$22.8 trillion. The average daily trading volume of foreign exchange derivatives alone reached US$6.6 trillion in April 2025. These numbers are not abstract; they represent the huge amount of capital that continues to flow through the financial system.
The monthly capital flow in the derivatives market exceeds the historical total of the crypto market.
Even if only 1% of the capital flows here, most price targets will seem small.
XRP is far from reaching its ceiling.

$750 target
Claver previously set a target price of US$750 for XRP. From the perspective of capital inflows into the derivatives market, this figure becomes more reasonable. Currently, the market value of XRP is approximately US$95.4 billion, while the total market value of the entire crypto market is US$2.92 trillion. If only 1% of the US$844 trillion nominal derivatives market could be captured, it would represent approximately US$8.44 trillion.
This figure is almost three times the current total market value of the crypto market and more than 88 times the current market value of XRP. Even if only a very small amount of capital enters XRP, it may bring about sharp price increases. Clover's $750 target reflects the belief that XRP's infrastructure allows it to absorb a significant portion of such capital flows.
Community responses
Community responses varied, but all showed real attention and participation in Claver's views. One commentator said he expected to retire before the end of the year and was confident of his future upside potential.
Another commentator hinted that a "reverse carry trade" was coming. Clover has discussed this concept before. In this scenario, investors who borrowed low-interest yen to invest in high-yield global assets began to liquidate their positions and shift capital to settlement assets such as XRP. This could make a significant contribution to the expected growth of the asset.
Another commentator admitted that although XRP has not yet reached a record high, confirming that it still has room for growth, it has also adjusted expectations appropriately. Many market participants believe that the derivatives market is a huge opportunity for XRP. These responses suggest that the community generally shares Claver's views.
