SUI Sui Network sets a new record in real-time demonstrations, with throughput exceeding 40.61 million TPS
Palo Alto, California, October 7, 2026 -Sui Network broke previous performance records with "Sui Tunnels" technology during a live demonstration at Basecamp, the flagship event. The result was confirmed by independent analysis by CertiK: Sui Tunnel completed settlement on the main network at a rate of 40,614,180 transactions per second (TPS). This achievement not only exceeded the previously set target of 20 million TPS, but also significantly exceeded its historical record of more than 6 million TPS set on July 4 this year.
The test was held on the summit stage in Basecamp in Sui. Sui Basecamp is Sui's annual flagship conference, held simultaneously with Token2049 Singapore this year. The test aims to demonstrate the high resilience and extremely fast processing capabilities of the Sui Network in the face of extreme capacity demands brought by AI Agents and machine commerce.
Technical principles of the Sui Tunnel
This record throughput was achieved through the "Sui Tunnel". The technology was first introduced in a record-breaking live broadcast on July 4, 2026. Similar to Lightning Network's offline payment channel, Sui Tunnel will settle with Sui main network when it closes. Each closed tunnel is co-signed by multiple parties and independently verifiable on the chain, combining high throughput with cryptographic proof that ensures transactions are not tamperable.
Unlike the Lightning Network's channels, the Sui Tunnel is programmable. This means that they support transaction types that go far beyond payments, but also cover a wider range of application scenarios. During the event, participants and viewers were invited to log in to a browser tool specially built for the event. Users and AI agents have opened more than 10,000 tunnels, covering multiple application categories such as chat, games, and payments. All operations are done off-chain and do not require Gas fees. Although this demonstration focuses mainly on the above categories, Sui provides basic components that allow developers to design customized tunnel applications based on their needs.
Crossing from 6 million to 40 million TPS
Basecamp's test results reached 40,614,180 TPS, more than six times the record of 6,086,766 TPS set by Suyi on July 4. Both records were measured inside the Sui Tunnel.
Adeniyi Abiodun, chief product officer and co-founder of Mysten Labs, said: "In an intelligent economy, Suyi doesn't need to handle every interaction. It needs to be the layer of trust for all these interactions." He further explained: "Sui can be regarded as a 'court'. When agents open the tunnel, they agree on rules; when they settle, they draw conclusions. In this process, the court does not interfere in its business. Once a dispute arises, Sui will resolve the dispute automatically and transparently. Agents can enjoy privacy and speed while retaining verifiability."

Abiodun指出：“苏伊是为数百万AI智能体每天进行交易的那一刻而构建的。”他强调：“世界上没有任何市场需要每秒600万笔甚至4000万笔交易，因为人类的移动速度没那么快，但智能体可以。”
