DATA DATA Network plans to withdraw from its independent blockchain, migrate to the Sui ecosystem and receive US$30 million in investment.
DATA Network, once named Story, is planning to discontinue its independent blockchain and migrate AI training data protocols to the Sui Network. This strategic adjustment is strongly supported by an investment of US$30 million from Sui Foundation.
According to partners on Monday, the project's Trace registration system launched in June will become part of the Sui ecosystem. At the same time, Walrus, the decentralized storage platform in the Sui ecosystem, will officially become the default storage layer for applications operated by the DATA Foundation and its partners.
Migration reasons and subsequent arrangements
Partners pointed out that the main reason for this migration is that Sui has the ability to process millions of data registrations every day, while Walrus has the technical strength to store large-scale training data sets.
Officials said that DATA Network will continue to operate normally until the upgrade is completed. A detailed upgrade timetable and holder transition plan will be officially released before the upgrade.
From IP licensing to AI data infrastructure
Story Protocol was originally a blockchain project built around intellectual property licensing. In June this year, with the brand rebranding into DATA Foundation, the project underwent a strategic transformation and was committed to building a "full-stack solution for AI training data." At the same time, the company has also launched an online registration system called Trace to track the source of AI training data and authorization information.
