Eco has upgraded its stable coin API: Enterprises can set up settlement conditions in advance, thereby avoiding high execution costs.
Eco has improved its stable coin API, allowing enterprises to determine settlement conditions before transferring funds. This feature aims to address issues related to execution costs. According to the company, a transfer of $1 million may incur costs of up to $10,000 even if the price fluctuates by just 1%.
Core features and advantages
Eco indicates that if the transaction requirements are not met, the transfer will be settled at the quoted amount or the funds will be refunded in full. Through “Programmable Addresses V2”, users can obtain real-time quotes before depositing funds into designated addresses. This API integrates functions such as deposit, payment, conversion, routing, and reconciliation through a single integration interface.
McKinsey and Artemis estimated that the usage of B2B stable coin payments increased by 733% by 2025. In their announcement shared with crypto.news, Eco stated that this upgrade on October 14 gave developers control over the pricing, execution, and settlement of stable coin payments. If certain requirements cannot be met, the funds will be automatically refunded.
For enterprises dealing with large amounts of money, price fluctuations, transaction failures, and uncertainties in settlement across different blockchain networks pose significant financial risks. The updated API allows developers to define transfer conditions before the funds are transferred, rather than being forced to accept any execution prices that may arise during the processing process.
According to the announcement, this platform based in San Francisco supports high-value payment transactions, cash management operations, as well as automated deposits and payments. Eco stated that its integrated system covers the entire process from initial bidding to settlement, including any transfers of funds between different networks.
The system ensures financial security through an all-or-nothing execution model.
In the upgraded system, companies can specify their transaction requirements in advance, and funds will be settled based on the bid amount. If the transaction does not meet these requirements, the company says that its “all-or-nothing” execution model will ensure that the funds are returned.
To illustrate potential financial risks, Eco provided an example: in a $1 million stablecoin transfer, a 1% difference between the bid price and the executed price could result in a cost of $10,000 for the company.
Ryne Saxe, CEO and co-founder of Eco, said that as the volume of payment and cash management transactions increases, businesses need to have control over individual transactions. “In transactions worth millions of dollars, even a small difference in the executed price can lead to unexpected costs of thousands of dollars.” Saxe noted that customers need to be sure that funds will only be transferred if their requirements are met. He described this API as a way to directly incorporate controls into the payment process.
Real-time bidding and programmable addresses V2
With the integration of programmable addresses V2 into the API, Eco says that users will receive real-time bids before depositing funds into designated addresses. The company states that these bids are based on the best available prices from the liquidity sources it supports.
公告还指出,同一API也支持跨受支持网络的 outgoing payments( outgoing payments通常指对外付款/流出支付)。
Among all the payment categories, researchers estimated that the total annual amount paid using stablecoins amounted to approximately 390 billion dollars. McKinsey noted that a large portion of the significant transaction volume on the blockchain consisted of transactions, internal fund transfers, and automated activities, rather than payments intended for end-users. In their estimates of corporate payments, McKinsey and Artemis took into account activities related to hosting services and financial management providers, while excluding the impact of transactions and internal transfers. McKinsey and Artemis also compared the scale of these transactions with traditional B2B payment data, and excluded market makers and high-frequency trading entities from their calculations. American companies have already tested stablecoins within their existing financial management processes. In July, Hyundai Motor America and Hyundai Motor Mexico conducted tests involving USDT transactions through the Avalanche network. The two companies transferred $20,000 via this method, and the entire process took about seven minutes. Tether stated that Hyundai Motor’s American operations first converted dollars into USDT before sending funds to Mexico, and then exchanged USDT back into dollars in Mexico. Axiym provided the settlement infrastructure, while Hyundai Card designed the remittance structure and handled all regulatory, compliance, accounting, and operational aspects of the experiment. According to Tether, the purpose of this test was to determine whether stablecoins could be integrated into existing corporate financial management processes without altering governance, compliance, or accounting frameworks. The company indicated that future tests will involve more payment channels and local currency settlements. On October 5th, the stablecoin payment provider Rain sought to obtain a trust bank license from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). According to their announcement, if approved, this proposed New York-based subsidiary will provide custody services for digital assets and US dollars, manage stablecoin reserves, and issue as well as redeem stablecoins backed by US dollars.
Rain stated that the proposed institution will operate independently of its payment platform, under the supervision of the OCC. The company noted that the bank will not accept deposits, offer checking or savings accounts, nor provide business loans. Additionally, it does not offer FDIC deposit insurance.
