Zapper, the decentralized financial (DeFi) analysis platform, announced that it will shut down next month.
Zapper, the decentralized financial (DeFi) analysis platform, announced that it will shut down next month, becoming another collapsed crypto platform in the market downturn.
On Wednesday, Zapper CEO Seb Audet posted on the X platform that Zapper\'s website, mobile applications and API services will cease operations on August 3. This marks the end of this platform, which was supported by billionaire investor Mark Cuban and others in 2021, after seven years of operation.
Audet said: \"We evaluated multiple different options and explored some options as deeply as possible, and ultimately realized that an orderly liquidation was the best course of action.\"
Although Zapper did not disclose the specific reasons for the decision to shut down, Audet suggested in his reply that the shutdown was due to falling demand. He said: \"In the final analysis, the market has the final say.\"

Zapper has become another crypto platform that has been shut down as crypto market sentiment has dropped to near historical lows and venture capital funds have become increasingly difficult to obtain.
Cardano-based analysis platform TapTools made a similar decision to shut down in June this year; a week later, Botanix, a bitcoin-focused DeFi platform, also shut down due to weak demand for Bitcoin DeFi. In addition, SBI\'s encryption department, decentralized mail service Dmail, and NFT markets Nifty Gateway and Rodeo have also ceased operations this year due to the overall cooling of NFT activities.
Zapper was founded in 2019 and made a mark later that year when it won the DeFi hackathon event hosted by Kyber, which raised $1.5 million in seed round funding.
In May 2021, Zapper completed another round of US$15 million Series A financing, led by Framework Ventures, with participation from Cuban, Coinbase Ventures and Sound Ventures founded by Ashton Kutcher.
Crypto traders use platforms like Zapper to track token prices, follow DeFi trends, and discover new protocols. Zapper also allows traders to connect to wallets to monitor positions, manage liquidity pools and income farms, and learn about upcoming airdrops.
Audet said the Zapper team expanded the product to more than 2 million monthly active users and processed more than $13 billion in transaction volume at its peak.
However, Zapper has also encountered major setbacks in its development, including a social engineering attack in April 2025. The vulnerability allows attackers to temporarily hijack platform domain names and redirect unsuspecting users to malicious pages embedded with phishing traps.
Obtaining venture capital funding becomes difficult
Although crypto venture capital funding increased 57.6% year-on-year to US$4.21 billion in the second quarter, capital distribution has become more concentrated-the overall transaction number has dropped nine times in the past 10 quarters, according to RootData\'s venture capital dashboard data.
