The recent bankruptcy of a large cryptocurrency company may bring compensation to some Americans

Bitcoin Station (Nasdaq: BTM) was once a popular cryptocurrency self-service kiosk operator. These kiosks allow customers to purchase cryptocurrency using cash or credit cards at retail locations.

Although the company operated more than 9000 Bitcoin self-service kiosks in the United States, Canada and Australia as of September last year, its situation was once difficult due to targeted regulatory measures.

In May 2026, Bitcoin Station was forced to apply for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

CEO Alex Holmes blamed strict regulatory regimes-including restrictions and bans on Bitcoin self-service kiosk services in certain jurisdictions-on the \"unsustainability\" of the current business model. The company also said its entire network of self-service kiosks has been offline.

Today, the bankruptcy of Bitcoin Station makes certain residents living in Arkansas eligible for compensation payments.

The Arkansas Department of Securities (ASD) announced on July 7 that it is sending notices to Arkansas consumers who have used the company\'s services informing them that they may be eligible to claim compensation for outstanding amounts.

According to ASD, Bitcoin Station processed at least 2341 personal transactions on at least 92 machines in Arkansas, with 19 customers in the state eligible for compensation. \"These 19 consumers should receive a total of $33312 in refunds, ranging from $382 to $7500.\"

The department said it would contact the individuals directly and also called on any Arkansas residents who believe they may have been affected by \"fraud involving these machines.\"

ASD points out that eligible Arkansas consumers can file claims with Bitcoin Station in bankruptcy cases or contact the department by phone or email.
