Kresus takes the lead in launching cryptocurrency inheritance and cross-generational wealth inherita

Millions of bitcoins have been permanently lost. Against this background, Kresus has launched a new subscription service that allows self-hosted users to safely pass on digital assets after their death.

Kresus, a self-managed wallet dedicated to simplifying the ownership of digital assets, today announced the launch of the Kresus Inheritance service. The service allows users to create a secure inheritance plan for their cryptocurrency positions without the need to share private keys and complex recovery processes.

The self-managed model gives users full control over their digital assets, but the infrastructure support provided by traditional wealth management fails to follow up. Beneficiary designation, inheritance transfer mechanisms, recovery paths, and long-term planning are almost missing. All alternatives have loopholes: handwritten mnemonics can be discovered by others, keys shared in advance can be abused, and traditional estate planning can be costly and complex.

\"Too much digital wealth is permanently lost due to a lack of follow-up planning,\" said Trevor Traina, founder and CEO of Kresus.\"Self-custody should not mean that if something happens to you, the assets disappear. Through Krest Inheritance, we provide users with a safe and affordable way to protect their heritage and ensure that the wealth they have accumulated can be passed on to the next generation.\"

The service costs $99.99 per year and is integrated directly into Kresus Wallet. Users can designate a beneficiary who will have access to the portfolio only after a set period of inactivity. Private keys are never shared during the transfer process, and users still have full control of assets during use. Kresus does not manage user assets, and the wallet owner always has control unless a set period of inactivity expires and the inheritance process is triggered.

According to a study by Harris Poll, it is estimated that 55 million U.S. adults (21% of the total population) currently hold cryptocurrencies. However, research by the Cremation Institute shows that 89% of cryptocurrency investors are worried about how they will handle their assets after their death. Krest Inheritance aims to fill this gap by providing users with a built-in digital asset planning tool to prevent problems before they occur. For example, a user holding $50,000 in Bitcoin can easily designate a spouse or adult child as a beneficiary, and the beneficiary cannot gain any access until a verified inheritance event occurs.

Inheritance services are built on Kresus\'s existing wallet and infrastructure business, which has served millions of self-managed wallet users through Kresus wallets, mini application experiences and enterprise solutions. This reflects Kresus\'s broader strategic goal of expanding Wallet\'s role into a complete wealth management platform, while tools such as Inheritance integrate estate planning directly into the self-managed experience.
