FollowingBastion received preliminary approval from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency to obtain National Trust Banking License
Bastion, a stablecoin infrastructure provider, announced on September 18 that the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) had granted its preliminary conditional approval for the National Trust Banking License. The company disclosed in a statement that the approval not only adds a federal regulatory layer to its existing state licenses, but also allows the company to conduct stablecoin custody, payment and issuance services through a single federally regulated entity.
Single regulated entity operation
Bastion will conduct business under this license in the name of "Bastion Platforms National Trust Company." The company said it will provide stablecoin custody and wallet services, payment infrastructure, and white-label issuance solutions through the single entity, providing corporate customers with federally regulated counterparties rather than a fragmented portfolio of state licenses. The scope of services includes the trusteeship of USDC and other GENIUS compliant digital assets, and the minting, redemption and exchange of stable coins and fiat coins for white label customers. Since Bastion does not issue its own branded stablecoins, customers can retain their own brand identity and economic model.
From New York State License to Federal Regulation
