VanEck revises its Spot BNB ETF (VBNB) authorization: Introducing pledge as a secondary investment target and appointing Figment to support execution
VanEck has revised its Fund Authorization for Spot BNB ETF (code VBNB) to include "pledge" as a secondary investment target and appointed Figment to assist in the execution of the strategy. The update marks a substantial change in the fund's structure and is no longer just to track BNB price fluctuations.
Specific changes to VBNB
VanEck's Spot BNB ETF (VBNB) now officially includes "pledge" as a secondary investment goal in addition to its main goal of tracking BNB spot prices. This distinction is crucial: the fund has not been repositioned as a purely pledged product, but instead uses pledges as a supplementary income mechanism, formally integrated into the existing ETF structure and has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
This move continues VanEck's tradition of continuously expanding the capabilities of digital asset products after the initial release. Previously, the asset management company has explored long-term crypto asset valuation models, such as Bitcoin value prediction.
Figment's Role in the BNB ETF Pledge Strategy
VanEck appointed Figment due to this pledge strategy update. Figment is an institutional-level pledge infrastructure provider whose appointment makes it the de facto executor of internal strategic changes in VBNB funds.
Currently, specific details on validator arrangements, fee terms, custody of pledged assets and expected rates of return have not been publicly disclosed. These terms need to be clarified through a separate filing or fund disclosure. Until these details emerge, this appointment can be seen as a structural confirmation that the fund will actively pursue a pledge strategy rather than just staying at the paper licensing level.
Key details yet to be verified
The facts that have been confirmed so far are relatively limited: Pledge has been added as a secondary target and Figment has been appointed. Other pending matters include implementation schedules, pledge economics models, any revenue mechanisms to be passed to shareholders, custody and "slashing risk" disclosures, and any fee adjustments associated with the new authorization.
Investors interested in VBNB should pay attention to the latest SEC documents that detail the pledge mechanism. The regulatory treatment of pledge income within the framework of spot ETFs is still an area of active development in the industry, so the disclosure information of VBNB will receive close attention. The broader ETF market structure is undergoing significant evolution, and on-chain capital flows and custody arrangements are increasingly influencing the structural design of institutional products.
As of the time of publication of this article, there is no price, asset management size (AUM) or yield data for VBNB.
