PYUSD is now natively integrated into the Polygon network. PayPal\'s dollar stablecoin PYUSD has been issued through Paxos, officially launched on the Polygon blockchain, and integrated into Polygon\'s Open Money Stack (OMS) to provide services to corporate users around the world. The move marks a major expansion of the dollar-backed token-which was launched on Ethereum in August 2023, expanded to Solana in 2024, and subsequently connected to more blockchain networks.
PYUSD is a U.S. dollar stablecoin issued by Paxos Trust Company and distributed through PayPal and Venmo. Paxos is regulated by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and its reserves are entirely backed by US dollar deposits, US Treasury bonds and equivalent cash instruments. As of May 2026, the circulating supply of PYUSD is close to US$3.5 billion, an increase of more than five times compared with the previous year.
Unified integration to achieve cross-border corporate payments
The core value of incorporating PYUSD into OMS lies in the simplification of operations. The Open Money Stack is Polygon\'s stablecoin payment infrastructure that integrates fiat deposit and withdrawal channels, wallet infrastructure, compliance modules, stablecoin orchestration, and on-chain clearing into an open, vertically integrated platform. For companies, this means that federally regulated cross-border transactions can be executed in one integration, eliminating the need to build separate deposit, withdrawal and compliance layers.
This architecture solves a pain point that all payment teams trying to build stablecoin processes encounter: vendor fragmentation. Currently, most organizations need to piece together multiple independent compliance service providers, wallet providers, cross-chain bridges, cash withdrawal channels and blockchains. The open money stack replaces multiple suppliers with one integration, handling the routing of stablecoins at the bottom level: deposit, settlement, and withdrawal.
The infrastructure is already capable of large-scale operation. As the settlement layer of OMS, Polygon Chain can currently support up to 5000 payment transactions per second, with throughput equivalent to traditional mainstream payment networks, but at zero cost. OMS reports that its stablecoin transfers have reached $54 billion, with 159 million unique wallet addresses and an average transaction cost of $0.002, which has been integrated by companies such as Revolut, Stripe and Flutterwave.
PYUSD integration puts PayPal and Polygon at the forefront of accelerating change in enterprise payments. As of March 2026, PayPal has extended its rights to use PYUSD to 70 markets including the UK, Singapore, Peru and Guatemala, promoting the transformation of the stablecoin from a U.S. exclusive product to a global product. Adding native support for Polygon through OMS provides corporate customers with a regulated, single-stack path to access this global coverage network.
