BlackRock BUIDL breaks $900 million on Avalanche, RWA competition heats up

BlackRock's U.S. Dollar Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL) has exceeded US$900 million in assets on the Avalanche network. That figure climbed from approximately US$464 million to the current level in seven days, with a net increase of approximately US$436 million, or a weekly increase of 105%.

Summary

BlackRock BUIDL's assets on Avalanche doubled in a week and exceeded the US$900 million mark today. According to the latest data, Avalanche currently holds the second largest allocation share of BUIDL, behind Ethereum. As demand for tokenized treasury bonds continues to grow in major blockchains, the total value of BUIDL has hit approximately US$2.87 billion.

BlackRock launched BUIDL through the tokenization platform Securitize in March 2024. The fund invests mainly in U.S. Treasury bonds, cash and repurchase agreements, with a clear goal of "current returns" while maintaining liquidity and principal stability. Eligible investors can receive tokenized fund shares and cumulative daily dividends, subject to eligibility and transfer control requirements.

BUIDL was originally launched on Ethereum, and then expanded to Aptos, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism and Polygon in November 2024, and has since been launched on Solana and BNB Chain. The new share categories provide more options for qualified investors to make transfers, settlements and on-chain profits in multiple blockchain environments. Bank of New York Mellon supports the fund's management operations between digital and traditional systems.

Data shows that the fund's seven-day annualized rate of return is 3.40%, and its management fee is between 0.20% and 0.50%. These values will change with short-term interest rates, fees and share categories used by investors. BUIDL's on-chain tokens record ownership, while the underlying investment portfolio remains managed in accordance with the fund's legal structure. The fund reports a net asset value of $1 per share.

Avalanche tokenized asset market expansion

Current data shows that the value of real-world assets distributed on the Avalanche network is approximately US$2.1 billion, an increase of more than 58% in 30 days. Based on these numbers, BUIDL's share of Avalanche accounts for approximately 43% of the network's distributed asset value. Avalanche also hosts tokenized products from Franklin Templeton and other asset management companies.

BUIDL has also entered Avalanche's decentralized finance landscape. In May 2025, the token sBUIDL issued by Securitize and anchored one-to-one with BUIDL became collateral on the Euler platform. Eligible users can borrow USDC or AUSD from this asset through the Select Loan Market.

Demand for tokenized treasury bonds continues to grow

The growth in BUIDL comes at a time when tokenized real-world assets account for a larger share of institutional crypto activity. Data shows that as of April 2026, tokenized real-world assets have exceeded US$29 billion. Tokenized U.S. Treasury bonds climbed from approximately $380 million in 2023 to $13.4 billion in the same period.

BUIDL is still concentrated in the hands of a few qualified investors. Although the fund size is close to US$2.87 billion, data shows that there are only 113 holders. This structure reflects its positioning to focus on qualified buyers rather than a broad range of retail users. As a result, the latest growth on Avalanche may stem from one or several large configurations rather than a general increase in the number of wallets.

BlackRock and Securitize have not publicly disclosed the specific investors driving Avalanche's weekly growth. Available data confirms asset growth but does not show that funding came from new subscriptions, online transfers or both. As the BUIDL multi-chain distribution continues to develop, market participants can track future changes through a data panel.
