The Compound protocol has been deployed on the Unichain network, and during the initial phase, it supports five types of collateral assets: wstETH, weETH, ezETH, BTC, and UNI. This deployment marks Compound’s entry into the Unichain ecosystem, adding a DeFi lending layer to this network, which is based on the Uniswap liquidity infrastructure.
The five types of collateral assets available for use initially include three types of liquid collateral tokens, as well as two mainstream assets. Among them, Lido’s wstETH and ether.fi’s weETH represent liquid collateral options; Renzo’s ezETH introduces re-pledge derivatives. Additionally, BTC and UNI, as the most valuable non-ETH assets on this chain, complement this asset portfolio.
It’s worth noting that given the direct connection between Unichain and Uniswap’s governance structure, the inclusion of UNI as a collateral asset has special significance. Users who hold UNI can now use it as a collateral asset for lending, rather than leaving it idle. However, as of publication, key parameters such as Loan-to-Value Ratio (LTV), supply limits, and liquidation thresholds have not been confirmed yet. It is recommended that users consult the official Compound documentation before depositing assets to understand current risk parameters.
Risk warnings and smart contract security considerations
Compared to traditional ETH positions, derivatives such as ezETH involve more complex risks associated with smart contract mechanisms. The FlashLoopAdapter vulnerability identified by SlowMist indicates that combined DeFi components may lead to risks of collateral loss. This is a significant concern for any multi-asset lending deployments.
The impact on Compound users and the details of their operations are also important considerations. Deploying Compound on Unichain means that the protocol will be available on chains where Uniswap liquidity exists. This could provide users with more efficient ways to borrow and exchange assets. However, the range of assets available for抵押在启动阶段比Compound主网上市时要小,这符合跨链扩展中的分阶段部署策略。
When using BTC as collateral on EVM-compatible chains, bridging or packaging is typically required. Currently, it’s not clear which specific forms of BTC are accepted for Compound deployments on Unichain. Users considering establishing BTC-based positions should confirm the exact type of asset they will receive before making a deposit. Similarly, UNI holders who are concerned about the macroeconomic pressures related to crypto asset collateralization should carefully consider the liquidation threshold when determining the size of their positions.
Details such as supply limits, borrowing rates, and the source of data, need to be confirmed from official documents provided by Compound and Unichain before users invest their funds.
