FollowingOrion Biden's involvement in the cryptocurrency market: LAPTOKEN controversy resurfaces
Recently, Hunter Biden, son of former U.S. President Joe Biden, announced his entry into the cryptocurrency field, pushing the 2020 U.S. presidential election The controversial "laptop incident" before the election has pushed into the crypto world.
LAPTOKEN plummeted after its launch, and the X account was blocked.
Subsequently, Hunter Biden launched a meme token called LAPTOP on the Base blockchain on September 9, 2026. The price of the token soared in the first few minutes of its launch, breaking the $200 mark at one point. However, this rally did not last long.
As the price collapsed, the focus of public opinion was not limited to the economic performance of the token. According to reports, the official X account of the LAPTOP project has been suspended, but the platform has not publicly explained the specific reasons for the ban.
Hunter Biden directly calls on Elon Musk
Faced with the LAPTOKEN, which suffered a major setback in just five days on the market, Hunter Biden took a remarkable move-he directly named Elon Musk on the X platform.
Hunter Biden mentioned Musk via hashtag, requesting that the ban on his LAPTOKEN account be lifted. In his post, he quoted warnings from Musk and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei about the future development of artificial intelligence and half-jokingly asked if his LAPTOKEN account was likely to reopen.
Given that Musk and Amodi had warned that artificial intelligence could pose a serious threat to humans by 2030, Hunter Biden asked Musk directly: "Do we have the opportunity to unblock the account of the 'laptop' token?"
Social media heated discussion and current situation clarification
Hunter Biden's move sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many people speculating whether Musk would support the LAPTOKEN project. However, as of now, there is no conclusive evidence that Musk has supported, purchased or taken any action to push up the price of LAPTOKEN.
On the other hand, there is no definite word on whether Musk responded to Hunter Biden's request. Therefore, at this stage, the connection between Musk and LAPTOKEN seems to only stay at the level of Hunter Biden's request to unblock his X account.
