If you had invested $10,000 in Bitcoin, Trump meme and gold when Trump took office, how much would y

On January 20, 2025, Donald Trump returned to the White House.

Bitcoin hits $109,000. Gold stabilized at $2,697 per ounce. A meme coin named after the president has only been available a few days ago and is trading for about $35, which has fallen sharply from an issuance peak of $74.

Six months later, these three assets are evolving in three very different directions. Here\'s what each asset invested $10,000 is worth today.

Bitcoin: $10,000 becomes $5,880

On Inauguration Day, Bitcoin opened at around $102,000. Investing US$10,000 can buy approximately 0.098 bitcoins. Bitcoin is now trading at close to US$60,000, and the value of this position is approximately US$5,880, a drop of more than 41%.

It\'s ironic. When Trump took office, he was the most cryptocurrency-friendly president in U.S. history. He signed executive orders to support the industry, established strategic bitcoin reserves, and pushed for passage of the \"Genius Act\" related to stablecoins.

Bitcoin still fell by nearly half during his tenure. Rising U.S. Treasury yields, institutional profit-taking, and selling pressure from Strategy\'s $14 billion in unrealized losses have lingered throughout his tenure.

Gold: $10,000 turns into $15,248

Gold is the quiet winner no one included in the inauguration day portfolio. On January 20, it was US$2,697 per ounce, and US$10,000 could buy 3.71 ounces. Today, gold is trading at about US$4,110, and the value of this position is about US$15,248, an increase of about 52%.

The driving factors are everything that has been brought about by the Trump presidency: the tariff war, geopolitical tensions, a U.S. -Iran military strike, and continued inflation that keeps the Fed cautious. Whenever uncertainty soars, gold climbs with it. The gold hit a record high of US$5,597 in January 2026 and then fell back. For assets deemed boring, it has become the most prominent trade in the cycle.

Trumpcoin: US$10,000 becomes US$430

TRUMP meme coin was issued two days before inauguration day and soared to a peak of US$74.27 in 48 hours. By January 20, it had plunged to about $35. An investment of $10,000 can buy approximately 285 tokens. These tokens are now worth about $430, a drop of 96%.

Nearly a million people purchased the token. Analyst firm Nansen found that their combined losses amounted to $3.81 billion. Trump himself cashed out more than $635 million from the same token. The deal only allowed one party to make a fortune.

Six months after the most pro-cryptocurrency government in U.S. history took office: Bitcoin fell 41%, gold rose 52%, and Trumpcoin fell 96%. Markets rarely give you the script you expect.
