FollowingDigital Asset Market Clarity Act's key Senate vote failed, leaving U.S. crypto legislation deadlocked.
On September 15, the U.S. Senate's key vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act failed to obtain the required 60 votes, causing the far-reaching U.S. crypto bill to stall. In this vote, a total of 50 votes in favor and 49 votes against, including a few Republican members and all Democratic members.

This is the most comprehensive attempt to date to address the biggest unanswered question in the cryptocurrency space: who is responsible for regulating what. Securities are regulated by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and commodities by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). However, in the cryptocurrency space, this regulatory boundary is almost non-existent, and the CLARITY Act aims to clearly delineate this boundary.
Coinbase CEO takes the lead in pushing bill progress
As the CLARITY Act once again failed to make progress, Brian Armstrong, co-founder and CEO of Coinbase, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchanges, called it a "disappointing result." He believes the industry can no longer wait for Congress to act and urges U.S. securities and commodity regulators to take over responsibilities.
