Robinhood said that eligible U.S. users will soon be able to connect to third-party AI agents to conduct cryptocurrency transactions on their behalf. This is the company\'s latest expansion in autonomous trading, after launching a similar product to stock and options traders in May this year.
A Robinhood executive said in a presentation on Friday: \"You can work with an AI agent to develop policies with specific constraints without having to continuously monitor your account.\" Robinhood has not announced a specific date for launching the product to eligible U.S. cryptocurrency traders, but noted that its UK customers will be the next group to receive the service.

The promotion of autonomous cryptocurrency transactions further improves Robinhood\'s broader cryptocurrency strategy. The strategy has previously focused on the tokenization of real-world assets and the company\'s Ethereum Layer 2 network Robinhood Chain, launched earlier this month. Johann Kerbrat, senior vice president and general manager of Robinhood\'s cryptocurrency business, said the new blockchain processed 17 million transactions from nearly 350,000 wallet addresses in its first week of launch. Meanwhile, since the platform launched a beta version of AI proxy accounts at the end of May, Robinhood\'s stock and options traders have created more than 70,000 such accounts.
AI Agents Help Fair Competition
During the presentation, the Robinhood executive said AI agents would allow retail users to trade based on data they might otherwise have missed, putting them in a fairer position in competition with institutions: \"This is another big step towards giving retail investors all the advantages that institutional investors have enjoyed for decades.\" Robinhood provides these proxy accounts through multiple third-party AI companies, including Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX\'s Grok. In addition, Robinhood also allows qualified users to complete credit card payments on their behalf through AI agents.
This comes as cryptocurrency industry executives such as Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire predict that AI agents will become major users of blockchain payments in the next few years.
AI proxy cryptocurrency payment integration is also advancing
In recent months, there have been several significant integration cases that have promoted AI agent-led stablecoin payments, including Amazon Web Services (AWS) integrating Coinbase\'s x402 payment protocol into Amazon Bedrock Agent Core in May, allowing AI agents to use USDC (USDC) stablecoins to conduct transactions.
AI proxy payment adoption still lags behind
Despite these integrations, data shows that AI proxy transaction activity on the blockchain is still relatively low. Artemis data shows that transactions facilitated through the x402 protocol backed by AI agents were only $2 million in June.
