Trip Chowdhry predicts that Intel's share price will reach US$200, pointing out that AI applications will drive a 16-fold increase in annual CPU demand

Dell reported that its traditional server revenue increased 122% year-on-year, Trip Chowdhry attributed this to sales of Intel processors. Intel Clearwater Forest processors have 576 cores, far exceeding AMD's 192-core products and NVIDIA's 88-core chips. Intel's recent quarterly results exceeded expectations, with earnings per share (EPS) of $0.42, above expectations of $0.21, and revenue increased by 25.2%. CEO Lip-Bu Tan showed his confidence in August when he purchased nearly $10 million of INTC stock at $95 per share.

Intel Corp., INTC) shares opened at $91.67 on Friday, up more than 3.6%, as analyst comments linked Dell's impressive results to stronger Intel CPU demand. Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research released an analysis that believes Dell's recent earnings discussions provide concrete evidence of accelerating Intel's processor demand. His research set a valuation target of $200 for INTC, supported by projected earnings per share of $20 in 2031.

At the heart of Chowdhry's theory is the 16-fold increase in CPU requirements every year, driven by the evolution of AI training tasks from text-based processing to more intensive multimedia formats, including video, images and audio content. These multimedia workloads require significantly more computing resources, and the CPU takes on more responsibilities than traditional GPU tasks.

Dell Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clarke provided key supporting evidence during the company's earnings presentation. Clarke pointed out that "the demand for new servers with more cores" is increasing and emphasized that "more and more customers are demanding meaningful CPU computing power to support AI and agent workflows." Clarke further revealed that traditional server revenue "increased by 122%, as demand remained exceptionally strong." Chowdhry's analysis was blunt: "This is Intel's CPU."

Evolution of CPU and GPU balance

The basis supporting the $200 price forecast involves a shift in the ratio of CPU to GPU in AI infrastructure configurations. Previously, a single CPU could effectively manage eight GPUs. Current requirements are two to four CPUs per GPU or TPU. This architectural change suggests a significant increase in the number of CPUs per server rack, which has nothing to do with the market share expansion Intel may achieve.

Intel's Clearwater Forest chips lead the industry in core density. Its 576-core configuration far exceeds AMD's Turin Dense (192 cores) and NVIDIA's Vera Rubin (88 cores, scheduled to begin deployment in August 2026). Chowdhry describes Nvidia's CPU products as "GPU controllers" rather than true CPU competitors.

Additional technological advantages strengthen Intel's competitive position. HBM memory for high-end GPUs is limited to 80-192 GB, while Intel x86 servers can hold terabytes (terabytes) of system DRAM-critical for large language model inference operations. Intel's AMX instruction set further enables x86 processors to natively perform matrix multiplications, allowing real-time reasoning to small and medium-sized LLMs without dedicated GPU hardware.

Latest Financial Performance

Intel's latest quarterly financial disclosures provide strong confirmation of optimistic forecasts. The chipmaker achieved earnings per share of $0.42, significantly exceeding the analyst consensus of $0.21. Revenue reached US$16.13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 25.2%, comfortably surmounting the $14.43 billion projection.

More than 70% of enterprise data centers currently run on x86 architecture, providing Intel with a large installation base and extremely low barriers to customer migration. CEO Lip-Bu Tan demonstrated his personal belief in August last year by purchasing 105,263 shares of stock at $95 per share, totaling approximately $10 million. Intel has set its third-quarter 2026 earnings per share guidance at $0.38.
