Historical precedents and recent trends
Saylor has previously used similar suggestive language. Before one purchase, he wrote "We're Back", and the company later disclosed that it had purchased 4,603 bitcoins. That purchase took place between August 24 and August 30, and Strategy spent approximately $369.7 million during this period, with an average cost of $80,318 per piece.
Strategy remained silent before this new signal emerged. A September 14 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) showed that the company did not buy or sell any bitcoins between September 8 and September 13. The document confirmed that the company's shareholding remained unchanged at 845,050 and total costs (including expenses) were US$63.73 billion.
During the recent quiet period, Strategy used $139.3 million in cash for other purposes, namely to repurchase its STRC preferred stock rather than continuing to increase its holdings in Bitcoin. Although Strategy operates a dashboard page that tracks its Bitcoin reserves and purchase history in real time, the page is updated frequently and does not constitute an official confirmation of new transactions.
