OKX completed a new round of financing with a valuation of US$25 billion, with Circle, Ripple and Standard Chartered Bank participating in

According to Bloomberg, cryptocurrency exchange OKX has completed a new round of financing with a valuation of US$25 billion. This time, the investor lineup is huge, including stablecoin issuers, British banks and London quantitative hedge funds. Specific participants include Circle Internet Group, Ripple and SC Ventures, the investment arm of Standard Chartered Bank. In addition, Qube Research & Technologies (QRT), a derivative company from Credit Suisse, also joined the ranks of shareholders for the first time. Currently, OKX refuses to disclose the specific financing amount.

Valuation remains unchanged, focusing on long-term market infrastructure construction

This round of financing is a continuation of the previous round of financing completed in March this year. At the time, Intercontinental Exchange Group (ICE), which owns the New York Stock Exchange, invested approximately $200 million in OKX, which was also valued at $25 billion at the time. The deal was positioned at the time as a cooperation around tokenized securities. After seven months, OKX's valuation has not changed.

Haider Rafique, OKX Global Managing Partner, said in a statement: "This funding will focus on strengthening OKX's long-term market infrastructure."

London quantitative giant QRT enters, optimistic about the all-weather digital asset market

As a new investor this time, QRT (a London quantitative investment company spun off by Credit Suisse) has previously operated a cryptocurrency fund with a size of approximately US$1 billion. Thomas Eaton, director of quantitative trading at the company, said QRT's investment reflects confidence in "long-term growth of digital assets and a 7×24-hour trading market."

OKX and ICE jointly promote U.S. stock tokenization business

Since March this year, ICE and OKX have been cooperating. Its joint venture, OKXICE LLC, announced on Monday that it is seeking approval to sell tokenized shares in 63 U.S. listed companies, including well-known companies such as Nvidia, Apple and Coca-Cola.

The offers will be conducted under the innovation exemption framework introduced by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The exemption mechanism was introduced in September this year to address regulatory gaps after the Clarity Act was blocked in the Senate. According to regulations, eligible trading platforms can trade tokenized U.S. stocks on public blockchain without registering as a national stock exchange, and can be valid for up to five years. It should be noted that this exemption only applies to tokens with the same rights as common shares (including dividends and voting rights), and synthetic assets that are purely price-tracking are not covered.

In addition, the exemption mechanism limits the number of shares that can be listed on each platform and gives issuers a 30-day objection period allowing them to object to the tokenization of their shares by third parties. According to this timetable, Nvidia, Apple and Coca-Cola each have one veto power to determine whether their shares appear on the platform.

Diversified layout: Expand equity exposure through derivatives

In addition to directly promoting the tokenized stock business, OKX is also building equity exposure through other channels. The platform has previously launched perpetual contract trading for the Magnificent Seven stocks and the S & P 500 index, further enriching its product line.
