AI infrastructure stocks pushed the S & P 500 and Nasdaq to new closing highs, expanding access to equity on the chain
Despite pressure from rising interest rates and high energy prices, artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure-related stocks pushed the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite to record highs. Analysts expect corporate profits in the S & P 500 to grow by 30.6%, with companies benefiting from AI infrastructure contributing more than half of the expected increase in earnings.
xStocks and Ondo platforms have launched tokenized SPY and QQQ products respectively, providing investors with on-chain investment exposure tracking the S & P 500 and Nasdaq 100.
Technology giants led gains, AI industry chain fully benefited
Wall Street ushered in a record trading market on Tuesday, with AI infrastructure stocks becoming the main driving force. As market expectations for its investment prospects continue to heat up, Nvidia's valuation approaches the $6 trillion mark. Even against the backdrop of rising borrowing costs and high energy prices, investors are pushing the S & P 500 and Nasdaq Composite Index to new historical closing records.
Specific data showed that the S & P 500 index rose 0.58% to close at 7,818.95 points; the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.45% to close at 27,599.79 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.49% to close at 51,521.04, just about 5% off its all-time high set in August.
Supported by strong demand for AI computing infrastructure, stocks of chip makers and related energy suppliers generally rose, and Nvidia once again hit a record high. Among other semiconductor companies, Marvell Technology rose 5.8% as it raised its 2028 revenue forecast, based mainly on growth in data center demand. AMD shares rose 2.8 percent after CEO Lisa Su said it plans to significantly increase chip supply by 2027 to meet growing AI demand.
In addition to chipmakers, Constellation Energy's share price surged 12.3% after signing a 3,590-megawatt power deal with Google, further boosting the overall rally in the AI infrastructure sector.
Strong rebound under macro pressure
These gains helped stocks overcome the pressure from the Federal Reserve's September interest rate hike, the first time the Federal Reserve has raised interest rates since 2023. The central bank raised interest rates by 25 basis points, combined with the rise in long-term U.S. Treasury yields, making the overall stock market environment seem quite difficult. At the same time, tensions in Iran pushed crude oil prices past the US$100 per barrel mark, and long-term government bond yields also reached their highest level in more than two decades.
Despite the above pressure, the S & P 500 index has gained about 14.2% so far this year, while the Nasdaq index has gained about 18.7%.
Profit expectations and tokenization ETFs continue AI boom
Currently, the market focus has shifted to third-quarter corporate earnings reports, as investors are looking for evidence to confirm that AI infrastructure spending has indeed led to stronger revenue and profit growth. Analysts expect corporate profits in the S & P 500 index to increase by 30.6% year-on-year, with profits in the technology industry growing by as much as 66.5%, according to LSEG.
Goldman Sachs estimates that companies benefiting from investment in AI infrastructure account for more than half of the S & P 500's expected earnings increase. As stocks continue to rise, blockchain-based investment platforms also provide investors with tokenized access to exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that include many leading companies.
Investors can access investment targets linked to the SPDR S & P 500 ETF trust through xStocks 'SPYx products and Ondo Finance's SPYon products. Both products provide exposure to the underlying ETF, which tracks the S & P 500 rather than directly tokenizing the index itself.
In addition, xStocks also offers Qx products and Ondo offers Qon products, both linked to Invesco QQQ Trust, which focuses on technology stocks. QQQ tracks the Nasdaq 100 Index, a benchmark index independent of the Nasdaq Composite Index, which also hit a new closing high on Tuesday. QQQ's positions include many large technology and AI companies, making these tokenized products closely linked to the main part of this market rally.
Wall Street's record closing shows that AI-related profit expectations and expanding channels for access to rights on the chain have become two important developments in the current market.
