Binan launches Agent OS: AI agents can independently perform cryptocurrency transactions

Binan launched the Agent OS platform on Thursday, August 20, 2026. The developer platform allows AI tools such as ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude Code to perform cryptocurrency transactions in trader accounts. Traders can set access rights and risk limits for each agent.

Sub-accounts achieve risk isolation

Binance limits agent activities to dedicated sub-accounts rather than opening a full account for agents. Traders can assign agents to a sub-account and specify the scope of their operations (such as spot or futures trading), and access can be revoked at any time. Jeff Li, vice president of Binance Products, said that sub-accounts prohibit withdrawal functions by default, thus isolating agent funds from other funds of traders.

Agents can be configured to request permission for each order, or they can execute transactions independently after permissions are set. Binance does not set a separate limit on the transactions or losses of agents in sub-accounts. The upper limit is the total amount of funds in the sub-account. For example, if there is $5000 in the sub-account, the maximum loss is $5000. The existing security, risk control and anti-money laundering rules of the sub-account API will be applied simultaneously when the Agent OS is launched.

Binance can view orders placed by agents, but cannot understand the decision-making logic behind them-which runs on the trader's own device or the AI application of his choice.

Strict daily limits for payments and wallets

Agent OS will connect agents to Binance's x402 payment channel and "Agent Wallet", which can hold tokens and connect to the DeFi protocol. Tools include Binance Wallet Agency Hub, Skill Hub and new Model Context Protocol support.

Binance sets a daily limit of US$50,000 for ordinary exchange transactions, a default daily limit of US$100,000 for DeFi transactions, and a daily limit of US$20 for x402 payments.

In June this year, Coinbase launched the "Coinbase for Agents" service, which integrates AI models such as ChatGPT and Claude into user accounts for transactions and payments. Kraken went one step further and announced that it would rebuild its entire mobile application based on autonomous agents-agents that can monitor the market and place orders, but each transaction still requires final confirmation by the trader. Previously, Bitget added a dedicated account for its GetClaw agent in April, allowing it to execute transactions based on natural language instructions in a closed environment. OKX and Gemini have also opened up their respective proxy access functions.

Zhao Changpeng, co-founder of Binance, once called cryptocurrency the "native currency" of AI agents.
