BYTEX appoints Diana Pires as co-founder to accelerate enterprise-level deployment of open source AI transaction infrastructure

BYTEX, a next-generation proxy transaction infrastructure company built by Singapore Technology Group, announced the appointment of Diana Pires as co-founder. As BYTEX moves its open source software to broader enterprise deployments, Pires will be responsible for leading the company's business organization, institutional partnerships and market strategy.

The appointment comes as BYTEX expands its AI, proxy and automated transaction infrastructure layers, starting with digital assets and extending to any market segment. Pires will be responsible for transforming the company's technology into commercial business, building a distribution network for institutional customer segments, and driving expansion into new markets. Her joining marks a career transition from a mature global platform to an early-stage infrastructure company. BYTEX pointed out that the open source model was a core factor in her decision: Institutional customers are increasingly cautious about outsourcing critical processes to such systems because of the inability to review closed third-party systems.

Rich industry experience and academic background

Pires has more than seven years of experience in digital assets and financial technology, with the vast majority of his time working in the commercial sector of large global platforms. From 2019 to 2022, she served as vice president at Crypto.com, responsible for institutional sales, mainly for corporate cooperation coverage for professional and institutional trading customers. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2019, she served as Senior Vice President (AVP) at OKX. Over the three years from 2022 to 2025, she has provided consulting and consulting services to multiple companies in the industry.

In terms of educational background, Pires holds a bachelor's degree with honours in English literature from Brunel University in London and a master's degree in blockchain and digital currency from the University of Nicosia (currently on suspension). She is an international guest speaker at industry events such as TOKEN2049, Consensus, and the Digital Assets Summit in New York, covering topics such as institutional adoption, governance frameworks for autonomous systems, and women's role in AI technology and financial technology leadership.

The value Pires brings to BYTEX is that she understands how large platforms sell products to institutional customers, guide customers, and keep customers sticky. For early infrastructure companies, this is often a topic that requires a deep understanding through practice.

Open source is the key to earning institutional trust

"Currently, it is difficult for closed infrastructure to gain market recognition. Companies want to review software involved in their critical processes, and open source is the only honest answer. For me, this is the decisive factor. BYTEX has spent two years building the engine, which is critical-institutional infrastructure cannot be built overnight." Pires said.

BYTEX's technical architecture consists of two parts:

  • Core: An open source event-driven transaction engine based on the Apache-2.0 protocol. In this engine, policies are represented as ordinary documents and run in a deterministic manner. This means that the same document remains consistent in backtesting, mock trading, and real execution, without the need to rewrite the code.
  • Studio: A visualization layer above the core that allows users to build and test strategies from the canvas instead of writing code.

The so-called proxy infrastructure, in layman terms, allows AI agents to act within the system while ensuring that their behavior is traceable throughout the process: define their operating scope through permissions, set insurmountable hard limits, and record every decision. Exchange keys are stored in files that Studio has never accessed, and risk controls that cover exposures, positions, and execution limits are part of the engine rather than setting options attached to it.

The rapid rise of AI agent systems in financial services
