MEXC and Payward plan to deepen cooperation, and TOKEN2049 Singapore will hold a high-level dialogue.
On October 5, 2026, cryptocurrency exchange MEXC and its parent company Payward (Kraken's operating entity) jointly announced that the two parties are interested in exploring broader areas of cooperation. A press release issued on the same day pointed out that the two exchanges aim to jointly serve users of evolving crypto assets and traditional financial markets around the world through closer collaboration.
Complementary advantages drive strategic collaboration
MEXC CEO Vugar Usi Zade and Payward Co-CEO Arjun Sethi have confirmed that they will attend the TOKEN2049 conference in Singapore on October 7 and will hold dialogue at the same session. Both parties stated that the core of this potential cooperation lies in "complementary advantages" rather than overlapping businesses:
- MEXC's advantages : Focus on the retail transaction experience, and deep cultivation in the field of "crypto-traditional finance" perpetual contract products, this sector has accumulated a large user base among active derivatives traders.
- Payward's advantages : It has a globally compliant infrastructure architecture and has established a deep U.S. regulatory footprint through the Kraken brand. It has significant advantages in institutional credibility and compliance, which just makes up for MEXC's weak direct presence in some traditional markets.
Industry Trend: From Competition to Ecological Co-construction
This trend reflects a general trend in the current crypto industry: exchanges are no longer simply pursuing zero-sum game-style positive competition, but are turning to exploring strategic partnerships. As the focus of industry growth gradually shifts to infrastructure, liquidity provision and cross-platform user experience, public statements and group discussions at large industry conferences have become an important way for exchanges to test market responses and assess the fit of potential partners, often occurring before the signing of a formal agreement.
For MEXC, strengthening ties with exchanges with Payward's compliance infrastructure will help it further expand its business landscape in regulated markets; for Payward, close collaboration with MEXC provides a new path to its entry into the retail market with a large user base.
Follow-up Outlook
Currently, the two parties are only in the exploratory stage and have not disclosed any binding cooperation agreement or specific product integration plan. Whether substantive cooperation can be achieved in the end will depend on the outcome of discussions during the TOKEN2049 conference on October 7 and further announcements that may be issued by either party in the following weeks.
