Key facts
OKX has launched OKX Money, a stand-alone application that aims to convert more than 50 local currencies into dollar-backed stablecoins for users in Latin America, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.
Eligible USDG balances can receive an annualized rate of return (APY) of up to 10%, without the need to pledge or lock in funds, but the specific interest rate will vary by region and customer level.
The app also supports USDC and USDT, and provides virtual and physical cards that are free of foreign exchange bonuses.
OKX Money app release details
This week, OKX launched this stand-alone app called OKX Money at the OKX Now product event held in Singapore, allowing emerging market customers to exchange local currencies for dollar-backed stablecoins.
This application is mainly aimed at users in Latin America, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East. OKX said customers can recharge their accounts in more than 50 currencies, and deposits will be converted to Global U.S. Dollar (USDG), USD Coin (USDC) or TEDA (USDT).
Income and Card Hierarchy Mechanism
Eligible USDG balances can earn an annualized rate of return (APY) of up to 10% on a daily basis without the need to pledge or lock up funds. Higher-level customers need to meet the 30-day average deposit threshold, higher consumption limits during the same period, or have a higher level of exchange VIP status.
The app also issues virtual and physical cards that are free of foreign exchange bonuses, and has a recommended reward program. OKX declined to disclose initial start-up markets other than the four designated regions, citing local regulatory requirements.
Haider Rafique, global managing partner of OKX, said: "The key gap facing individuals and institutions lies in the settlement process." He pointed out that this would help solve payment delays and credit freezes.
OKX goes beyond the broader layout of trading business
USDG is issued by Paxos through the global dollar network, and its reserve assets include U.S. Treasuries, money market funds and cash. OKX joined the network in July 2025, a move that provides customers with "more choice and financial freedom," said Jeff Ren, founder of OKX Ventures.
The release follows a funding round involving the Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) in March this year that valued OKX at US$25 billion.
The launch of OKX Money comes amid a growing number of stablecoin savings apps designed to respond to volatile currency markets, and major exchanges are competing for users who want to gain exposure to the U.S. dollar without using traditional bank accounts.
