Solana and JPMorgan Chase join forces to open a new era for enterprise-level transactions
As one of the largest altcoins on the market, Solana is preparing to launch an open source project that aims to allow institutions to complete transactions in seconds rather than days. The move marks Solana's official direct step into the corporate finance sector.
Solana Foundation releases DvP system to reshape payment efficiency
Solana Foundation recently announced the launch of the Solana Delivery-to-Payment (DvP) system. This is a new open source payment tool designed specifically for financial institutions. The system supports simultaneous settlement of tokenized assets and payments in a single blockchain transaction, shortening payment time that would otherwise take days to seconds.
According to an official statement, the system was contributed by JP Morgan during the development process, and its core goal is to reduce counterparty risk, such as avoiding situations where a party has paid but failed to receive the corresponding assets.
The Solana Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the decentralization, growth and security of Solana. "Today, we officially released Solana DvP, an open source hosting program that provides financial institutions with a 'Payment-on-Delivery' open source API based on the Solana network," it said in a statement.
From days to seconds: Atomic settlement solves traditional pain points
For a long time, companies have relied mainly on their own independent private smart contracts when conducting such transactions. Payments and asset transfers often need to be completed through multiple intermediaries such as clearing houses, custodians and trustees, and the entire process usually takes one to two days to complete.
In contrast, the Solana DvP system developed by the Solana Foundation uses an "Atomic Settlement" mechanism to solve this problem. Under this system, payments and asset transfers occur simultaneously in the same transaction. If either party fails to fulfill its obligations, the transaction will not be completed and the other party will not be liable for payment. This mechanism not only compresses trading times from days to seconds, but also minimizes the risk of default by both parties.
JPMorgan's role is limited to consulting
The Solana Foundation noted that JPMorgan mainly provided reconciliation expertise to the project to help it meet the needs of corporate users. However, the foundation clearly emphasized that the bank was not involved in the design, development, operation or approval of Solana DvP. Therefore, JPMorgan only plays an advisory role in this project rather than an actual operator.
