Sui's native bitcoin financial infrastructure will be launched in phases this month. As a high-performance blockchain designed to allow funds to flow freely like news, Sui announced today on Sui Basecamp that a launching alliance of more than 20 heavyweight institutions in the cryptocurrency field has committed to investing more than US$500 million in capital support of Hashi Main Network will be officially launched this month.
Anchorage Digital, home of the first federally chartered crypto bank in the United States, became one of the first-day launch partners, providing its institutional customers with seamless access to Hashi and bringing additional stablecoin liquidity to the network.
US$500 million in capital commitment locks into the main network
Hashi entered the main network with more than US$500 million in committed capital, gaining an opportunity for the bitcoin-backed market on Sui. Lending, borrowing, credit, treasury, structured products and other applications will be launched immediately, with considerable financial support behind these applications, which are stored in vaults managed by various Hashi treasury providers such as Aftermath, Concrete, and Fluid.
Hashi is built around a simple opportunity: Most of the more than $1 trillion in Bitcoin is idle due to institutional constraints. Listed companies that hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets have previously lacked a way to use native BTC in programmable financial markets with the required transparency, compliance, control and security. The launch of Hashi's main network changed this situation. Bitcoin remains on the Bitcoin network, while Hashi coordinates its use as collateral through Sui smart contracts.
Adeniyi Abiodun, co-founder and chief product officer of Mysten Labs (Sui's original contributor), said: "Bitcoin has become a global reserve asset and the financial infrastructure surrounding it is catching up." "Hashi launched with strong capital and a coalition of industry leaders because institutions wanted to make Bitcoin work without giving up the protection they needed."
Anchorage Digital introduces new institutional channels
Anchorage Digital will open Hashi to customers through two distinct paths.
The three-party collateral solution will provide institutions operating under strict qualified custody, compliance and operational requirements with a path to Hashi through Atlas, Anchorage Digital's settlement and three-party collateral infrastructure. This includes listed companies that hold Bitcoin on their balance sheets and digital asset treasury companies that may not have direct access to decentralized finance (DeFi).
For these companies, income-producing bitcoins can change the economics of their balance sheets. BTC can serve as collateral for liquidity and financing without first selling, opening up new ways to manage capital costs.
Self-service through Anchorage Digital's institutional self-managed wallet Porto will become the second path. Institutions can access Hashi directly through self-custody and pursue a broader strategic portfolio that includes lending, diversified yields, and physical asset exposure that matches the capital efficiency required by cryptocurrency native venture capital investments, hedge funds, miners, market makers and liquidity providers. Anchorage Digital also plans to provide stablecoin liquidity to Hashi.
Nathan McCauley, CEO and co-founder of Anchorage Digital, said: "Public companies and institutions hold large amounts of Bitcoin, but their ability to leverage this capital has been constrained by available technology and DeFi space limitations." "Connecting our institutional clients to Hashi represents a comprehensive paradigm shift and maturity for Bitcoin Finance, and we are excited to be part of it."
Hashi's Bitcoin app
Hashi converts native Bitcoin into programmable collateral to serve a growing variety of financial applications. It allows holders to lend stablecoins without selling BTC, provide capital to on-chain credit markets, deploy Bitcoin into automated treasury strategies, and access structured products, physical assets and bitcoin-backed bonds. For institutions, it converts long-term BTC positions into productive working capital. This opportunity has attracted one of the broadest alliances in Bitcoin finance, with more than 20 partners including BitGo, Bullish, Cumberland, FalconX, Ledger and others building ecosystems around Hashi since its first release.
Bitcoin Finance was officially launched
Hashi has evolved from concept to devnet and testnet, has more than 20 start-up partners, and now has committed capital of more than US$500 million. At the end of this month, rehearsal ends and Bitcoin will become productive collateral on Sui.
