TLDR
The value of tokenized U.S. Treasury products on the Avalanche chain has reached approximately US$545 million. The data comes from an ecosystem update released on October 7, showing that the market has grown approximately fourfold in size over the past year and continued to climb in the third quarter. Institutions such as Franklin Templeton and WisdomTree have deployed tokenized assets on the network.
Operating mechanism of tokenized U.S. bonds
Tokenized U.S. bonds are blockchain-based products linked to short-term U.S. government debt and money market instruments. They are connected to real assets traded in traditional markets. Investors holding such products can earn earnings related to U.S. Treasurys, while blockchain handles settlements, ownership records, and asset transfers. This architecture is different from many crypto assets that are not associated with traditional finance, and tokenized U.S. debt represents claims to familiar sovereign debt. Due to their high liquidity and interest-paying characteristics, U.S. Treasury bonds have become a common choice when building blockchain-based financial products.
Avalanche and its institutional strategy
Avalanche has been promoting its platform to institutions and asset issuers for many years. Its design allows companies to build custom blockchain environments while still connecting to a larger public network. The tokenized assets of well-known traditional financial institutions such as Franklin Templeton and WisdomTree in Fulland have driven the growth of the Avalanche real-world asset (RWA) market.
Avalanche is not the only player in this field. Ethereum, Solana, Stellar, and multiple Layer 2 networks also host real-world asset products. However, issuers of these products often focus on different factors than ordinary cryptocurrency traders. Compliance, custody security, settlement reliability, identity systems and distribution channels are their priorities. Although transaction fees are still a factor that issuers consider, they are only part of the considerations when companies choose a network.
Although the US$545 million figure is still small compared to the traditional trillion-dollar U.S. Treasury market, the value related to Treasury-related bonds on Avalanche has quadrupled in the past 12 months. This suggests that more such products are being released and held on the network. A network-wide ecosystem update released this week highlights Avalanche's growth in real-world assets. Updated data as of October 7 showed that the value of tokenized treasury bonds on Avalanche was approximately US$545 million, which continued to rise in the third quarter, continuing last year's growth trend.
