Ripple enters high-margin markets dominated by Wall Street giants

This moves Ripple into a lucative market historically dominated by large Wall Street banks. According to the Wall Street Journal, Ripple has become an important player in the leveraged ETF financing space. These products use derivatives to amplify exposure to individual stocks or indices.

As its business expands, Ripple Prime currently has more than US$3 trillion in annual clearing in multiple markets and serves more than 300 institutional customers.

Deep into bank-dominated markets

Leveraged ETFs typically use total-return swaps rather than simply buying a larger number of underlying securities. Prime brokers can provide financing, collateral management, and derivative access, allowing ETFs to earn twice or triple the daily performance of an index or stock without directly holding the same amount of exposure.

Ripple acquired this infrastructure through its $1.25 billion acquisition of Hidden Road in 2025. The transaction transformed the company from a major cryptocurrency payment provider to the first cryptocurrency company to have a global multi-asset master broker.

As Ripple Prime continues to expand in the institutional market, the significance of this acquisition has become increasingly prominent.

Delta One provides Ripple access to equity derivatives

Ripple Prime launched its Delta One business in August to provide institutional clients with total income swaps linked to U.S. listed stocks and indices, as well as digital assets.
