Bots and fake wallets: A major challenge facing Web3
Bots and fake wallets are one of the most serious issues in the Web3 space today. Creating a new wallet costs almost zero and takes seconds, allowing a single person or script to control thousands of identities simultaneously. The InterLink Labs project is trying to solve this problem through a system called \"Proof of Character.\" The system binds network access to verified human faces rather than anonymous wallet addresses.

Robots \"cultivate\" airdrops, specifically targeting real early users, diluting rewards for actual participants; fake accounts manipulate DAO governance voting, deviating results from the wishes of the real community; automated wallets falsely increase user activity and transaction data, making projects appear hotter than they actually are; spam and Gas abuse, clogging the network with meaningless transactions.
As large language models become increasingly capable of imitating human writing and behavior, the line between real users and automated scripts becomes increasingly blurred, widening the distance between wallets and real people.
How does InterLink\'s personality proof system work?
InterLink\'s solution is to have every account prove that it is a human being before participating in the network. The specific process is as follows:
Human Node and Identity Authentication
Users download the InterLink application and complete facial recognition and living body detection. The system generates an encrypted identity hash and stores it on the chain, confirming the uniqueness of each user and eliminating duplicate or batch registrations of accounts. Biometric data itself is not linked, but only stores a zero-knowledge proof, indicating that the user is a unique human being.
After successful verification, users will become \"human nodes\" and can participate in governance, use mini applications, and receive rewards. According to the project report, as of early 2026, there were more than 5 million verified users. Since subsequent data has not been released again, this figure may be lower than the actual adoption scale.
To remain active, human nodes need to reopen the application approximately every four hours to complete verification. ITLG points will be earned for each successful verification, which will be redeemed into tokens at the time of the Token Generation Event (TGE).
The project adopts a dual token structure: ITLG serves as the main governance and utility token, and ITL serves as secondary token for external payments and institutional purposes.
How does InterLink compare to other identity projects?
People often compare it to World (formerly Worldcoin) because both use a proof of personality mechanism and claim to be the identity layer for anti-witch attacks in the AI-led Web3 era. There are hardware differences: Worldcoin authenticates users through a dedicated iris scanning device, Orb, while InterLink relies on smartphone cameras and apps, making it easier to scale quickly, but more difficult to defend against complex deep counterfeiting techniques in the long run.
It is worth noting that an independent and unrelated project called World will be launched on July 1, 2026. It is a complete on-chain prediction market based on Solana-based, built into the Phantom wallet, and relies on Chainlink\'s oracle infrastructure to obtain market data. The platform allows users to trade on cryptocurrency prices and events such as the 2026 World Cup. Despite the same name, the project is very different from the human verification network supported by Sam Altman.
