Pi Network makes App Studio more useful for creators

Pi core team launches two important updates to Pi Application Studio

Pi core team has brought two meaningful upgrades to Pi Application Studio, providing developers on the Internet with a better infrastructure and smarter development tools.

Persistence storage feature introduced into Pi apps

The first update addresses a long-standing limitation of the platform. According to the official Pi Network blog, previously Pi Application Studio only allowed creators to develop front-end single-session applications, and user data (such as preference settings or progress) would be reset when leaving the application. This situation has changed with the launch of native backend support and persistent storage for newly created applications. The upgrade allows apps to save and retrieve user-specific data between sessions-games can retain top scores, productivity tools can remember to-do lists, and notes apps can automatically save content. The team sees this as an important milestone for the platform because it expands the practical application capabilities of AI-created applications in the Pi ecosystem. It is worth noting that this update only applies to newly created App Studio apps and does not involve existing apps.

AI-assisted planning before construction

The second update introduces an AI-driven application planning phase. Before building an application, creators go through an interactive process that helps them refine their design concepts. Pi Network said App Studio may ask more detailed inquiries about the app\'s core ideas, goals, categories or expected user experience. This provides AI with a more comprehensive requirements briefing, which the team says helps generate higher-quality application output.

Together, the two updates reflect the consistent efforts of the Pi core team to make the Pi Application Studio a practical development environment rather than just a prototype tool. As Pi Network said, adding backend support lays the foundation for subsequent expansion of capabilities. The platform already supports external AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Replit, and Cursor, allowing both technical and non-technical creators to introduce applications into the Pi ecosystem, reaching more than 60 million active pioneer users. Both features can be accessed directly through the Pi mining app.
