Cryptocurrency Wallet and Exchange Backpack opens 24/7 trading in U.S. stocks

Cryptocurrency Wallet and Exchange Backpack has launched a round-the-clock trading service for international investors, allowing users to buy and sell real U.S. stocks. The first to launch include SpaceX (SPCX), Micron Technology (MU) and SanDisk (SNDK).

In the past, traders outside the United States had to wait for Wall Street to open or could only choose derivatives. Today, they can buy and sell U.S. stocks at any time.

According to the company announcement, the buyer holds actual securities, and each position is backed by one-to-one equity held in a U.S. custodian. Holders also enjoy dividends and corporate behavioral rights, no different from any registered shareholder.

Backpack launches U.S. tokenized securities

Backpack\'s tokenized securities platform draws liquidity from traditional exchanges, ensuring that prices remain volatile even when markets are closed, thereby supporting overnight and weekend trading. Settlement immediately after the transaction is completed, and you can use stablecoins or fiat currencies to recharge.

The exchange runs tokenized versions of stocks on the Solana network, which can be transferred between wallets, connected to DeFi apps, and converted back to traditional securities.

Armani Ferrante, co-founder and CEO of Backpack, said in a company press release: \"Market infrastructure is moving towards a simple concept: Capital never sleeps.\" He described the launch of the new product as \"creating the first 24/7 price discovery and hedging platform for real U.S. stocks.\"

Launched in stages

Thursday\'s release is the second phase of the project since it was launched in June. In June, Backpack Securities was officially launched and listed on SPCX on June 12. On the same day, Backpack itself completed its IPO on Nasdaq. Micron\'s tokenized shares followed suit on June 22, just before the chipmaker reported third-quarter earnings. SanDisk joined this week.

Backpack claims that since June, its tokenized SPCX has become the most actively traded version of the stock chain, with more than 10,000 holders and more than US$350 million in transaction volume. However, the company\'s press release did not provide comparative data on trading volume with other competing products.

The cryptocurrency wallet and exchange said its services cover users in more than 150 countries and process more than US$450 billion in cumulative transactions. The company launched BP utility tokens in March 2026, allowing pledgers to enjoy lower handling fees and participate in equity interests.

Tokenization competition accelerates

Backpack is one of several companies chasing the 24/7 stock market. According to relevant data, the size of the tokenized stock market has increased from approximately US$379 million to US$1.85 billion in the past year, and the monthly transfer volume has increased by more than 85% to US$8.76 billion.

At the end of 2025, Kraken acquired xStocks developer Backed Finance and launched a similar product on its exchange. Bybit, Bitget, Coinbase and Binance have also added tokenized stocks to their product lines.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also approved a NASDAQ pilot program in March to allow tokenized stocks to be traded side by side with ordinary stocks. The New York Stock Exchange partnered with Securitize to launch a 24/7 trading platform. After completing initial pilots with more than 50 companies, the American Securities Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC) also announced plans to launch tokenized securities services in October.
