Blockchain infrastructure is attracting attention

Blockchain payment applications are still in their early stages

Robinhood is preparing to let AI-driven agents manage cryptocurrency transactions for eligible U.S. users.

Since the launch of a beta version for stock and options trading in May, the platform has created more than 70,000 autonomous trading accounts.

The company's blockchain network processed 17 million transactions across 350,000 wallet addresses in seven days after launch.

The total lock-in value on Robinhood Chain has exceeded US$115 million, while Uniswap's daily trading volume reaches US$500 million.

Current AI-proxy blockchain payment activity remains low-the x402 protocol only recorded $2 million in transactions in June.

Robinhood is expanding its autonomous AI proxy program to cover cryptocurrency transactions, allowing eligible U.S. users to connect to third-party artificial intelligence systems that will perform digital asset transactions based on preset parameters.

Cryptocurrencies are about to enter the field of agency transactions.

Eligible U.S. customers will soon be able to connect their AI agents to a dedicated Robinhood account to conduct cryptocurrency transactions on their behalf and enjoy the same real-time profit and loss tracking and push notifications as agent transactions. More information is coming soon.

The fintech platform disclosed the progress in an investor presentation on Friday, but did not disclose a specific implementation timetable. Following deployment in the United States, customers in the UK will be able to use this feature.

The broker previously launched an AI-driven autonomous account testing program for stock and options traders in late May. Since its first launch, the platform has registered more than 70,000 autonomous accounts, demonstrating early interest in automated trading capabilities.

This feature supports AI systems developed by Anthropic, OpenAI and SpaceX's Grok platform. In addition, Robinhood is expanding the framework to allow eligible users to authorize AI agents to perform credit card transactions.

The core concept is simple: customers set boundaries, and AI is responsible for execution. "You can work with agents to develop trading strategies with clear parameters without having to continuously monitor the portfolio," explained a Robinhood executive.

The company positions this innovation as a mechanism designed to level the competitive environment between retail investors and institutional market participants-allowing individual traders to leverage market intelligence they may ignore.

Blockchain infrastructure attracts attention

This AI-centric expansion has been accompanied by significant progress in Robinhood's blockchain business. Robinhood Chain is an Ethereum second-layer solution built based on Arbitrum technology and launched on July 1.

According to Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood's senior vice president of cryptocurrencies, during its first week of launch, the network processed 17 million transactions involving approximately 350,000 unique wallet addresses.

According to DeFiLlama, the total lock-in value on Robinhood Chain increased by 23% in 24 hours to more than $115 million. The chain's Uniswap daily transaction volume reached approximately US$500 million on July 8, second only to the Ethereum main network.

Analysis by Token Terminal shows that the network attracted more than $70 million in bridged Ethereum in its first seven days of operation.

Blockchain payment applications are still in their early stages

Outside the Robinhood ecosystem, AI-driven blockchain payment solutions are also beginning to emerge. In May, Amazon Web Services integrated Coinbase's x402 protocol into Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, allowing AI agents to use USDC stablecoins to process payments.

In April, cryptocurrency wallet company Oobit launched a Vasia-backed virtual card that enables AI agents to use USDT to perform business expenditures.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong and Circle CEO Jeremy Allaire both predict that AI agents will become important players in blockchain payment infrastructure in the next few years.

However, the current trading volume is still small. Artemis data showed that the x402 protocol handled only $2 million in transaction volume in June, highlighting that despite continuous product launches, mainstream adoption is still in its infancy.

Robinhood Chain's total transaction volume exceeded US$250 million in its first week of operations.
