Historical data provides background, but is not market forecast.
Recently, a report released by online analysis firm CryptoQuant showed that since 1950, in all 19 12-month cycles after the U.S. midterm elections, the S & P 500 Index has risen, with an average return of 15.4%. The agency pointed out that the third year of a president's term is often the period when stocks perform their strongest, and lower political uncertainty helps encourage risk-taking behavior. However, CryptoQuant emphasized that these historical trends do not establish causality.
data shows that in the twelve months after the midterm elections in 2014, 2018 and 2022, Bitcoin rose by 24.5%, 44.9% and 92.3% respectively. It is worth noting that in the first month after the 2018 vote, cryptocurrency prices fell 45.5%. With only three data points, CryptoQuant said it was impossible to infer reliable persistent patterns from them.
CryptoQuant's data also shows that the price of Bitcoin and the number of active addresses can change independently, because active addresses are not equivalent to individual investors and cannot directly measure the demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs.
Broader market conditions are critical in the long term
As of October 2, the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield remained at 5.28%, while a procedural vote on the CLARITY Act failed in September. Analysts believe that clear election results alone will not automatically relax financial conditions or solve regulatory issues.
It is worth noting that between September 28 and October 2, the U.S. spot Bitcoin ETF recorded a net inflow of $241.1 million. CryptoQuant recommends closely monitoring whether yields are stable, whether capital inflows continue, and whether regulatory progress is substantial. Political clarity may provide support for Bitcoin, but continued gains will still depend on favorable market fundamentals. The company concluded that historical trends provide useful background information, but they are not predictions of the future.
As of the report's release, Bitcoin was trading at US$83,191, up approximately 1.5% in 24 hours. The 30-day gain remained positive at close to 5%, while weekly performance was mixed.
