XRP XRP Ledger has opened a new chapter, and key upgrades are booming.
XRP Ledger (XRPL) has ushered in a new stage of development-version 3.2.0 of server software has been officially deployed, aiming to improve operating efficiency and enhance stability, especially suitable for enterprise-level applications. Despite the promising prospects for this upgrade, most network nodes are still running on previous v3.1.3 releases. The key factor in network transition is not simply node upgrades, but the decisions of the validators.
Has the verifier threshold been met?
Yes, the necessary validator support has been achieved. XRPSCAN data shows that of the 833 active nodes, although 43% have adopted v3.2.0, 51% still use older versions. However, the default unique node list (UNL) shows that 31 of the 35 validators (up to 89%) have the latest software installed. This ratio far exceeds the 80% continuous approval rate required for upgrades.
What about security changes?
The related fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment (a set of important safety enhancements) is still under separate consideration. The move involves new functions such as single asset custody and permission-based decentralized exchanges, and introduces management protection measures for deleted account data.
Whether the upgrade on the XRP ledger is completed is not determined by the total number of nodes, but depends on the support of the verifier in the default UNL.
The fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment advances specific aspects of the network, ensuring that accounts leaving the system do not retain invalid data, and enhances the functionality of online lending protocols. However, acceptance of software updates is ahead of approval of the amendment.
Ripple\'s attitude on the latest changes
Ripple, the company behind the XRP ledger, supports the fixCleanup3_2_0 amendment. Despite Ripple\'s endorsement, adoption of the amendment lags behind widespread acceptance of v3.2.0. If the amendment takes effect, non-compliant verifiers could risk being isolated or prevented from accessing the network.
