Arthur Hayes 'favor for Ethereum
According to BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes, Bitcoin has all the conditions and is expected to reach a seven-digit price within the next four years. But he is now buying ETH because he believes Ethereum can easily "achieve 3 to 5 times growth quickly."
In the latest issue of Trade Secrets, Hayes said that the bursting of the artificial intelligence bubble,"large-scale" money printing and potential yield curve control in the United States are some of the reasons why Bitcoin may reach $1 million by 2030.
The 41-year-old billionaire said: "We have all the ingredients. The time has come. So I think $58,000 is probably the bottom of Bitcoin, and now it will gradually move higher in this 'torturing upstream'."
Hayes's forecast came just weeks after 10x Research director Markus Thielen told Trade Secrets that reaching this number by 2030 was "mathematically impossible." He believes that the capital inflows needed to push Bitcoin to its current price over the past 15 years suggest it is almost impossible to attract the trillions of dollars needed to reach $1 million over the next four years.
Arthur Hayes loses interest in Hyperliquid
Although Hayes is still optimistic about Bitcoin, he is less optimistic about Hyperliquid's future upside potential.

He said: "I don't think there is that asymmetry in prices right now. Everyone knows about the existence of Hyperliquid. It's no longer an unknown and unexpected thing, is it?... There are huge expectations for Hyperliquid right now."
He said: "This doesn't necessarily mean its price won't rise, but I think at least for Maelstrom's money, deploying into the altcoin space is better than investing in Hype."
The remarks came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump said that the United States was working to introduce Hyperliquid into the country. However, Hayes, who was pardoned by Trump in 2024, now says the president has little influence on the price of crypto assets.
Hayes said: "It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter what Trump says or does. Look at what Bessant did. Read the opinions of the Treasury, the Federal Reserve, and the monetary authorities. Trump is just a very interesting politician, but he has no influence on the price of Bitcoin."
Hayes also questioned whether Trump would be willing to spend the necessary political capital to promote crypto legislation such as the CLARITY Act, especially when other issues are more important to ordinary voters. He suggested that "short-sighted middle voters" did not care about the legislation.
Hayes 'feels great' about BitMEX shutting down
After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2008, Hayes began his career as an equity derivatives trader at Deutsche Bank and Citibank Hong Kong branches. In 2014, he co-founded BitMEX, the groundbreaking crypto derivatives exchange with Ben Dolo and Samuel Reed. The exchange recently announced that it would close on September 23 and urged users to close positions and withdraw funds before the deadline.
Hayes said it "felt great" that the exchange closed at his will.
He said: "We shut it down because we wanted to, not because we were hacked." He added that it was the "best ending."
He added: "We landed our way." Hayes said that competition is so fierce now that unless you have a large platform scale like Binance or OKX, running a cryptocurrency exchange is "really a stupid game."
Hayes said: "There is no need to participate at all because the security costs are too high and the data center operating costs are too high to make sense as a business."
Hayes 'first choice is Ethereum
Hayes said that his current first choice is Ethereum. "I think Ethereum has a better risk-reward than Hyperliquid for idle fiat coins that are about to be put into the crypto space," he said.
He said: "This does not necessarily mean that Hyperliquid will not increase prices. I just don't think it has the potential to grow 5 times, and I think Ethereum can, you know, achieve 3 to 5 times growth very quickly."
"Everyone hates it. It is the only ultra-large-cap cryptocurrency that has not yet exceeded its historical high in 2021."
Hayes pointed out that Ethereum is the foundation layer of DeFi, and although it is "hated" for a variety of reasons, it is long overdue for a wave of gains. "I think it's time to show it because it's been suppressed and forgotten," he said. We saw that when Bitcoin soared, Ethereum soared 20%."
