Analysis of CoinGecko's hot list on September 14: Lisk and Zcash's completely different rising logic
On the CoinGecko hot token list on September 14,@Lisk's $LSK token and Zcash's $ZEC occupy the forefront. Although both appear on hot lists, the driving reasons behind them are quite different.
Lisk chain is about to close,$LSK surges against the trend
In the past seven days, the price of $LSK has increased by more than 8%. Given the background of the project, this trend seems counterintuitive. As one of the earliest blockchain projects, Lisk announced that it will officially close its main chain on October 31, 2026, which means that a decade-long operation will come to an end. After this date, any LSK tokens that remain on the original chain will become inaccessible.
The price increase appears to be driven by a combination of supply dynamics and forced relocation activities. Key catalysts include a comprehensive product rebranding, the destruction of 100 million LSK tokens, a new stablecoin infrastructure layer, and a clear migration deadline that forces all chain holders to act immediately. The resulting surge in demand caught short sellers off guard and triggered a wave of liquidations.
The Lisk team has made clear the deadline. Users are advised to bridge assets to Ethereum via Superbridge or Lisk Bridge, a process that takes at least seven days. For users who have pledged LSK on the chain, they must bridge their tokens to Ethereum before October 21, 2026 to allow time for unpledge and bridging, so as to meet the deadline of October 31. Complete the operation before.
It is worth noting that the LSK token itself has not stopped issuing. The project is shifting its focus to real-world assets (RWA) and repositioning itself as a corporate vault platform on the Ethereum and Base networks.
Zcash has been pushed to the hot list by the increase in whale holdings
$ZEC has also made it to CoinGecko's hot list with significant online buying activity. According to Onchain Lens data, in the past six days, a giant whale wallet has purchased a total of 36,360 $ZECs from platforms such as Binance, OKX, Kraken and Gate, with a value of approximately US$41.6 million.
In 2026, Zcash's overall background will be significantly enhanced. The Grayscale Zcash ETF was launched on August 25, 2026 on the New York Stock Exchange's Apache Market, providing U.S. investors with compliant investment channels and boosting the confidence of institutional investors. At the same time, Zcash's development roadmap includes implementing privacy NFT, tokenized assets and market functions through Zcash Shielded Assets, but this still needs to be continued development and market adoption.
This NFT-related development pipeline adds another catalyst for traders focusing on the token. With two assets on the hot list for very different reasons-one driven by end-of-chain deadlines and the other driven by institutional capital inflows and accumulation-the market is clearly looking for opportunities in different narratives.
