Senate Democrats are reportedly preparing alternative proposals for the current CLARITY Act text, in part because they are dissatisfied with certain elements of the bill. Democratic resistance increased after a meeting with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, causing the bill's probability of passage to decline after an early rise.
Bernstein pointed out that the crypto market is currently showing a bearish trend, but if there are positive developments in the CLARITY Act, there is still room for the market to rebound. Bernstein predicts that some Democrats may support the bill to meet the 60-vote passage threshold. Bloomberg reported that between 7 and 10 Democrats were open to ultimately passing the bill, although public commitments remained limited.
Bernstein believes Democratic support could boost the prices of assets such as Bitcoin, Ethereum and XRP. Conversely, a failure to vote, especially combined with the Fed's hawkish rhetoric, could trigger downside risks to the crypto market and crypto-related stocks.
