ETH S&P Global acquires OpenZeppelin to expand smart contract security services
S&P Global has reached an agreement to acquire smart contract security company OpenZeppelin. The company's codebase has enabled more than $37 trillion in value to be traded through stablecoins, tokenized funds and decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols.
Transaction details and strategic objectives
Specific financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. S & P Worldwide is known for its credit ratings and analytical services and said it does not expect the acquisition to have a significant impact on its financial results.
Yann Le Pallec, President of Global Ratings at Standard & Poor's, said that OpenZeppelin's technology and expertise will enhance Standard & Poor's global capabilities in smart contracts and on-chain technology risk assessment. Le Pallec pointed out that the integration aims to provide confidence to traditional financial institutions and DeFi-native companies to build and conduct transactions in the evolving digital asset environment.
"As the digital asset and tokenization markets continue to mature, OpenZeppelin's technology and expertise will complement our capabilities in smart contracts and on-chain technology risk assessment, giving traditional financial institutions and DeFi-native companies the confidence to build and trade in this new environment," said Yann Le Pallec, president of global ratings at S & P.
Standard & Poor's Global emphasizes its strategy of providing reliable data, benchmarks and transparent risk assessments, which will play an important role as the market adopts blockchain technology.
OpenZeppelin's role in blockchain security
