Founders Fund leads US$5 million in Anvil token purchase, DeFi protocol releases enterprise-class SD

Founders Fund led the investment in Anvil's US$5 million governance token purchase to promote the implementation of enterprise-level DeFi tools.

According to CoinDesk, Founders Fund led the investment of US$5 million to purchase governance tokens for Anvil, the Ethereum-based decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol. Anvil allows digital assets to guarantee financial commitments. As the project launches tools for businesses and financial institutions, this investment marks an important step on the road to institutional adoption.

In addition to Founders Fund, Pantera Capital, Theta Blockchain Ventures, Bullish and Protoscale Capital also participated in the subscription of ANVL tokens. In addition, individual investors such as Robert Leshner from Superstate, Rene Reinsberg from Celo, and Mike Cahill from Douro Labs joined.

Enterprise integration solution without writing blockchain code

Meanwhile, Anvil Research Labs, which is responsible for building enterprise tools for the protocol, has released a software development kit (SDK). The SDK allows companies to easily integrate Anvil into their existing systems without having to write blockchain code.

The specific valuation or terms of this purchase were not disclosed in the announcement. Anvil told the media that the tokens received came from its existing treasury reserves rather than newly issued tokens.

Anvil's differentiated innovation in collateral use

Anvil was developed by the Acronym Foundation and built on top of Ethereum and calls itself the "universal collateral layer." Unlike traditional lending models used by lending platforms such as Aave and Morpho, which require users to borrow money against deposited collateral as security and pay interest, Anvil is designed to ensure that commitments are fulfilled and not necessarily involve lending behavior. In essence, this is equivalent to an on-chain letter of credit.

Currently, the total lock-in value (TVL) for this open source agreement is approximately US$14 million.

Joey Krug, partner at

Founders Fund, said in a statement: "Companies need to ensure that the commitments behind payments and credit are fulfilled. Anvl allows them to secure these commitments with verifiable digital asset collateral, and the new SDK makes it easier to integrate it into products."

Enterprise Partners and Governance Structure

Anvil Research Labs announced that named partners such as Consensus, Bitcoin.com, payment companies Flexa, EukaPay, Helva Finance, Yabe Market, Digital Spenders Club and Emerald, acquired by Apollo, are using or integrating its tools. The promotion is based on Anvil's previous "secured buy-now-pay-later" financing demonstration at the Blockchain Futurist Conference.

Bullish (CoinDesk's parent company) is also working with Anvil to explore how the agreement can support its business operations. Bullish CEO Tom Farley discussed the plan with Acronym Foundation President Tyler Spalding at the Consensus 2026 conference.

ANVL tokens purchased by Founders Fund and other investors carry governance rights and the holder has the right to vote on the development of the agreement. The circulation supply of this token is 80 billion, and the total supply is 100 billion.

Financing signals: Institutional interest shifts to collateralized DeFi infrastructure

This investment demonstrates the growing interest of institutions in collateralized DeFi infrastructure outside the simple lending market. This trend is also reflected in proposals for custody collateral lending for institutions.

Anvl supporters are betting that verifiable collateral to secure payments and credit can attract traditional companies to the chain. However, Anvl is still small compared to the mature DeFi lending platform, and its named integration projects have not yet translated into a significant share of DeFi activity.
