Bitcoin funds returned to zero gains in October, and Ethereum ETF continued its continuous decline.
According to data from Farside Investors, U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded a net outflow of $484.9 million on Wednesday, the largest one-day outflow since June 25. The outflow offset previous net inflows of $321.6 million in October, turning the funds 'cumulative net worth this month into a net outflow of approximately $163 million.
Bitcoin Fund: October earnings wiped out
Before Wednesday, Bitcoin ETF achieved a net inflow of $321.6 million in the first four trading days of October. However, Wednesday's outflow wiped out all those gains in a day. As of now, the fund is still in a net outflow of approximately $163 million this month.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust became the main source of capital outflows this week, with divestments reaching US$207.7 million. It is worth noting that just the day before, the fund also recorded a net inflow of $122 million. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin fund followed closely, with an outflow of $105.1 million. The divestment amount from the ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF was US$101.7 million. These three major funds together accounted for approximately US$414.5 million of the day's total outflow.
Looking back at historical data, this outflow is the largest single-day outflow since the Bitcoin ETF lost US$691.7 million in a single day on June 25. The funds previously recorded net inflows of $118.8 million on Tuesday, but Wednesday's flow completely reversed that trend.
Ethereum ETF: It suffered a sell-off for seven consecutive trading days
The U.S. spot Ethereum ETF was also not immune, and funds continued to flow out on Wednesday. According to Farside Investors, the Ethereum Fund recorded a net outflow of $160.9 million, marking its seventh consecutive trading day of net outflow.
Since September 29, the cumulative loss of funds from the Ethereum ETF has been approximately US$569 million. Among them, BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust contributed US$116.1 million in outflows, while Grayscale's Ethereum Trust recorded US$25.8 million in outflows.
Taken together, the U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF experienced a total net capital outflow of approximately US$645.8 million in a single day. Affected by this, as of Thursday, Bitcoin prices closed at around US$82,700, down about 2% from the previous 24 hours (data source: CoinGecko).
