Samsung has partnered with Solana to provide USDC cross-border transfer services to U.S. users through Samsung Wallet

Samsung is partnering with Solana to implement USDC-based cross-border transfer functions for U.S. users through its Samsung Wallet application. The news was released by the Solana Foundation on October 7 and marks an important step in the process of further integrating cryptocurrency infrastructure into mainstream financial products. This new feature is expected to be officially launched in late October, covering approximately 82 million Galaxy devices in the United States.

By then, Samsung Wallet users in the United States will be able to use the USDC on the Solana network to send funds across borders. Users can access and transfer stablecoins without installing additional encryption applications. This feature will be integrated directly into Samsung Wallet and Samsung Pay apps, which are now widely used to manage daily matters such as bank cards, boarding passes and electronic IDs. The system has a built-in legal currency deposit and deposit channel, and funds can be automatically exchanged into local currency at both ends. Solana will complete the settlement in the background, while users experience the seamless cross-border transfer process through a familiar interface. Samsung said the feature will be gradually extended to more markets in accordance with local regulatory policies.

Skip registration step altogether

In the past, the popularity of stablecoins often required users to complete a series of operations first, such as downloading stand-alone applications, recharging exchange accounts or learning how to manage crypto-wallets, which brought a certain learning threshold. This cooperation with Samsung has completely eliminated these obstacles. As long as you own a Galaxy phone in the United States and update the Wallet app, any user can directly use the stablecoin feature.

Woncheol Chai, executive vice president and head of the digital wallet team at Samsung Electronics 'Mobile Experience (MX) business unit, said Galaxy users should be able to obtain stablecoins "without having to cope with the complexity of traditional encryption tools." Lily Liu, president of the Solana Foundation, said that this cooperation is a turning point in the development of stablecoins, which means that stablecoins will transform from being regarded as a "encryption product" to a purely "method of transferring funds."

Fill the suspense left by the Galaxy Unpacked launch conference

At this year's Galaxy Unpacked flagship new product launch conference in London, Samsung showed an example of a Wallet interface with a USDC balance. The specific launch date was not announced at that time, nor was the issuer or underlying chain information disclosed. Industry observations point out that choosing which issuer will reflect Samsung's strategic tendencies in compliance supervision.

The remittance business is the first to be implemented

This is not the first time Samsung has entered the cryptocurrency field. Last year, Samsung partnered with Coinbase to provide crypto asset access directly to millions of U.S. Galaxy users through the Wallet app. This cooperation gives Samsung an advantage over major competitors such as Apple Pay and Google Wallet.

Solana
