After Hoskinson posted on X, he then broadcast it live on the platform. During the live broadcast, he read Wahrstätter\'s tweet announcing the proposal and pointed out that the tweet made no mention of Cardano at all, even though his network has been solving many of the engineering issues Ethereum is currently exploring for years. \"For ten years, we have been working to expand UTXO and smart contracts on UTXO,\" he said. \"We wrote a paper called Chimeric Ledgers that showed how to run these two systems in parallel.\" He argued that Ethereum developers had in the past considered UTXO-based smart contracts impractical, but now incorporated similar ideas into their long-term roadmap.
Long-term competition is in focus again
During the live broadcast, Hoskinson expanded his criticism beyond Wahrstätter\'s proposals, claiming that Ethereum often adopts Cardano\'s ideas after initially rejecting them. Areas where he claims such behavior occurs include Cardano\'s governance system and treasury model. He said that after losing employees and funds, the Ethereum Foundation was forced to move in these directions. He also hinted that Ethereum may use IOHK\'s privacy blockchain project Midnight to revisit Cardano\'s work on privacy and post-quantum cryptography, as well as its early adoption of formal verification tools such as Lean. According to him, Ethereum will eventually adopt these technologies without thanks.
This is not the first time Hoskinson has vented on live broadcast the treatment he or Cardano has received. In June, he announced plans to move the Cardano community from X to Discord, saying the social platform had been dominated by hostility and personal attacks. However, he said he would continue to use X for live streaming-the same format he uses to criticize Ethereum today.
