Bitcoin has surged above $64,000 in the last 24 hours. This rise is also reflected in the altcoin market, where Ethereum and Bitcoin have risen simultaneously and benefited from the overall market recovery. Ethereum rose 3.5% in 24 hours, hitting the $1,800 mark; altcoins such as XRP, Solana and HYPE also recorded significant gains.

Altcoins performance diverges

According to CoinMarketCap data, Omni Network (OMNI) has led the altcoins with a 33% gain in the past 24 hours, followed by Aventus (AVT), ApeCoin, EIGEN and ARB. In contrast, altcoins such as TRIA, SEAM and JTO were among the top losers.

Whale dynamics: high turnover and losses

While the altcoin market is intertwined, whale (major) trading is still active. Cryptocurrency analysis platform Lookonchain posted that an investor admitted missing out on the gains in ANSEM, CZ and TCC and took profits on CASHCAT. However, he still suffered major losses. The anonymous whale missed out on potential profits of approximately US$3.6 million and earned only US$2803 by prematurely selling 20 million CASHCAT memes. Subsequently, he repurchased 7.7 million CASHCAT units and currently holds 900,600 units worth approximately US$162,000, and his total profit on CASHCAT is approximately US$396,000.

The whale with the address of \"0xf02d\" closed its HYPE position after holding positions for nearly two months, resulting in a loss of US$4.52 million. But he did not give up and instead opened a new short position on 283,948 HYPEs (worth US$19.34 million) with 10 times leverage.

According to data analysis platform Onchainlens, a whale with a cumulative profit of more than US$38.75 million has returned to activity after several months of silence. On that day, he deposited US$892,000 in his wallet and opened long positions in two altcoins on the Hyperliquid platform: a US$7.01 million ZEC position (10 times leverage) and a US$3.98 million LIT position (5 times leverage).

In addition, cryptocurrency wallet provider Exodus reduced its holdings in BTC, ETH and SOL. According to data released by Exodus, it sold 56 BTC, 976 ETH and 2,924 SOL.
