FollowingTwo U.S. senators have introduced legislation aimed at combating cryptocurrency fraud and scams. The newly proposed legislation could prompt the U.S. Treasury Department, the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), the Secret Service and law enforcement agencies to coordinate and work together to catch cryptocurrency fraudsters and fraudsters.
On Monday, Democrat Elisa Slottkin and Republican Jerry Moran introduced the Framework Act to Strengthen Cryptocurrency Enforcement Agencies (SAFE Act), which aims to coordinate actions among the U.S. Treasury Department, law enforcement agencies, regulators and private sector participants to combat cryptocurrency fraud and fraud.

Slotkin said: \"This task force established under the Secure Cryptocurrency Act will allow us to use all resources to combat digital asset fraud.\" Moran added:
\"With the widespread adoption of cryptocurrencies, this legislation will help address threats and ensure that all Americans are better protected from cryptocurrency fraud.\"
The FBI reported that Americans lost US$9.3 billion due to cryptocurrency-related investment fraud in 2024, an increase of 66% from 2023. People over the age of 60 were the most affected, with losses reaching US$2.84 billion.
It should be noted that this data contains all investment scams that use only cryptocurrency as a cover. Many of these scams do not involve blockchain or cryptocurrency.
