Large Brazilian market operator CSD BR chooses XRP Ledger for real-time deployment

Brazilian market operator CSD BR with trillions of dollars in registered assets has officially chosen XRP Ledger (XRPL) for real-time deployment. The move marks one of the network's most significant institutional adoption results to date.

According to local media reports, CSD BR, a provider of financial market infrastructure, has begun connecting its ledgers to its regulated securities systems, with Ripple leading the initiative.

The large regulated institution

CSD BR is part of Brazil's regulated capital market structure and is responsible for functions such as asset registration and central securities depository. The company is authorized by major Brazilian regulators, including the Central Bank of Brazil.

Ripple executive Luke Judges said that CSD BR holds more than 22 trillion reais (approximately 4.23 trillion US dollars) in registered assets. He also pointed out that Brazil is the 10th largest economy in the world. These data show why this partnership deserves close attention.

This is the first time that XRP Ledger has been integrated into core financial markets on such a large scale in a public manner.

How deployment will begin

XRP Ledger will initially serve as an additional recording and audit layer for the investment fund shares held by CSD BR. The first assets came from BTG Pactual, one of Brazil's largest banks. The ledger is connected to infrastructure already operating in regulated capital markets.

Judges said this is the first time that XRP Ledger has been publicly integrated into core financial market infrastructure on such a scale. He said the project could open the way for most assets in Brazil's vast fixed-income market to be transferred onto the books.

From pilot projects to actual operations

This initiative aims to move beyond the familiar proof-of-concept model. Silvio Pegado, general manager for Latin America at Ripple, described the transition of the pilot project to national-level capital market infrastructure as an important milestone. He said this milestone is of great significance to the entire distributed ledger industry.

Why CSD BR chose this network

Judges explained that CSD BR chose XRP Ledger because developers designed it around financial applications. He described the network as "built specifically for financial use cases." According to Judges, it can be integrated with existing regulated infrastructure right out of the box.

CSD BR uses a single blockchain in its technology stack. Judges said XRPL is currently "the only blockchain in the technology stack." This deployment puts XRP Ledger in its sole role, rather than as a network in a large multi-chain experiment.

The future of fixed income markets

This deployment starts with a single bank's fund share. Judges connects broader expansion to Brazil's vast fixed-income market. The market may shift significantly to XRP Ledger. The size of the assets held by CSD BR gives this outlook real weight.
