BitGo expands institutional hosting infrastructure to the Aptos network

BitGo announced that it will expand its institutional hosting infrastructure to the @Aptos network and has partnered with Decibel, a decentralized exchange built on Aptos to launch a WalletConnect-based connectivity solution designed to provide convenient services to self-hosted customers.

Integration of custody and on-chain transactions

This integration fills a long-standing gap in institutional encryption infrastructure. This integration solves the disconnect between regulated custody and on-chain market access. Previously, institutional customers often needed to set up separate wallets and adopt different transaction processes to access decentralized exchanges while holding assets through regulated custodians.

Through this integration, institutional customers can connect BitGo's self-hosted MPC (Multiparty Computing) wallet to Decibel via WalletConnect, initiate transactions from the Decibel interface, and approve transactions through BitGo's MPC infrastructure and wallet policy engine. Institutional customers can choose to access Decibel while keeping assets in their connected BitGo wallets and retain existing transaction controls.

Decibel is a decentralized exchange for spot and perpetual contracts running on the Aptos network. The Aptos network provides blockchain infrastructure with sub-second final confirmation speeds. The project is jointly developed and supported by Decibel Foundation and Aptos Labs.

Control remains unchanged

Existing controls, including address whitelists and multi-signature approval workflows, run through the entire transaction process. Customers can access Decibel without having to transfer assets to a separate wallet or modify their approval workflow.

This announcement is in line with BitGo's broad strategy of bringing institutional customers into the DeFi (decentralized finance) space without sacrificing compliance. BitGo operates globally and has multiple regulated entities, including BitGo Bank and Trust, the National Association. This is the first federally chartered digital asset trust bank owned by a listed company.

This integration with Decibel is another step BitGo takes to deepen its presence in the Aptos ecosystem. Currently, BitGo already supports the custody of assets built based on the Aptos Digital Asset Standard (DAS), including stablecoins such as USDC and USDT, providing institutional customers with a regulated solution to manage Aptos based assets.
