Pi's core team launches three new features to increase the appeal of the developer ecosystem.
The core development team behind the Pi project recently released three new features designed to make its ecosystem more attractive to application developers. At the same time, the project also carried out a comprehensive overhaul of developer documentation to align with its broader strategy of transitioning to real-world practical value.
Theteam said the update follows a series of releases over the past few months that have focused on moving beyond simple cryptocurrency transactions, enhancing the usefulness of the Pi network, and providing users with more reasons to explore and leverage the ecosystem.
Detailed explanation of three new features
The three new developer capabilities released this time include: local storage, access to application-specific pledged data, and file and video sharing capabilities. Among them, perhaps the most interesting one is the first function.
Pi browser apps that have been filtered and whitelisted can now store specific information directly on user devices without requiring developers to maintain their own back-end infrastructure. This means preferences, session status and other relevant data can be stored on the device, reducing infrastructure costs and complexity and providing a consistent user experience on Android and iOS platforms. It is worth noting that although this feature still has some limitations, data will not be uploaded to servers on the Pi network. Due to limited storage space, only whitelisted apps can use this feature, and old data may eventually be erased.
The second release is the "Staking Data API". This feature allows eligible developers to view the number of valid Pi's that users have pledged specifically for their applications through Ecosystem Directory Staking. Developers can use this information to build specific application features around their most loyal user groups.
The last feature is called Pi.shareFile, and it allows apps to call the phone's native sharing feature to share files, pictures and videos. Some examples cited in the blog post include market buyers sharing receipts or photos, and games and content apps that allow users to share highlights directly.
Attract more developers to join
In addition to the above three new features, Pi Network also announced that it will integrate previously dispersed developer resources into a unified document platform. The platform now covers all aspects from application registration, sandbox development, identity verification, Pi payment, main network preparation to application launch.
In addition, the platform also introduces artificial intelligence assistance guidance functions to help developers integrate authentication and payment systems. The purpose of this move is very clear: by reducing technical friction when building apps for Pi, it fits into the broader strategic planning of the project.
Theteam said these releases address an issue that is critical to the long-term prospects of the project and its native tokens: providing developers with richer tools and fewer technical obstacles and encouraging them to continue building apps that people really want to use.
