Cardano's ADA token rose 12% to US$0.27, hitting a five-month high.
Cardano (ADA) token price surged 12% to US$0.27, setting a five-month high. This significant increase is particularly eye-catching against the backdrop of flat performance of the overall cryptocurrency market. During the same period, price fluctuations in Bitcoin and Ethereum were relatively small.
Leios upgrades and founder remarks boost the market
The market's warming up is mainly due to two major events: the launch of a new platform for decentralized finance (DeFi), and the strong response on social media caused by Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson. After the ADA began to rise, Hoskinson shared a 15-minute ADA/USDT chart showing the token climbing from approximately $0.244 to $0.264. His tweet included the hashtag "#LeiosIsComing", which quickly became the project slogan of the day and attracted market attention to the next major upgrade to the network.
The emphasis of "#LeiosIsComing" by Cardano's founders has become a core preview of the expected scalability development of the network. The upcoming linear Leios upgrade (embodied as CIP-164) is expected to significantly improve the transaction processing capabilities of the Cardano blockchain. The current main chain Ouroboros Praos will maintain its security and order while introducing separate endorser blocks. These new blocks allow a larger set of transactions to be processed, verified by the equity pool using BLS signatures, and then written together to the ledger.
Micro Dictionary: BLS Signature , or Boneh-Lynn-Shacham signature, is a cryptographic signature technology that can efficiently and securely verify group transactions in a blockchain network.
Since June 2026, the linear Leios solution has been tested on the Musashi Dojo Test Network, and data shows that its data processing speed has increased sixfold. Under ideal conditions, network developers estimate that throughput could increase by a factor of 10 to 65.
Factors behind the rise in ADA and potential challenges
The preliminary rise in ADA prices was triggered by RealFi on October 1 on the main network, which introduced real-world asset (RWA) tokenization to the Cardano main network. In addition, the integration of stablecoin USDr into DeFi platforms such as Lace, Liqwid and SundaeSwap has also added impetus to the market. These events contributed to a bullish technical pattern: the 50-day moving average crossed the 200-day moving average, forming a signal known as a "golden cross"; at the same time, the daily momentum index rose to 68.69.
Despite a brief liquidation at $0.264, trading activity on the Cardano decentralized exchange has not kept pace with the jump in ADA prices, indicating that market enthusiasm is outpacing the actual growth rate of DeFi. Long-term prospects may also face challenges due to delays in the deployment of the Leios upgrade, which is scheduled to be implemented by the end of 2026 as part of the Dijkstra hard fork.
Integrating Leios requires Cardano's equity pool operator to manually register its encryption key. Once activated, network throughput will gradually increase as system parameters are adjusted. At the same time, traders are closely watching $0.28 as the next important resistance level for ADA prices.
